Analog Rytm Dual VCO Tuning

Hey Elektron Crew!

Recently got myself a Rytm. And wondering something about the Dual VCO’s tune parameter (not the note parameter).

So at 0 its playing a ‘C’ note when I hit the bottom left pad in chromatic mode but if I tune down to ‘-12’ my brain thinks it will play ‘C’ down an octave but it instead plays and ‘F#’ then if I go down to ‘-24’ it plays ‘C’. So its like its moving in-between semitones so so ‘-1’ is half way between notes B and C is this normal? Probably is but thought id ask

Yup, 2 notches is a semitone, at least thats how ive been using it, ive never actually refered to any documentaion, but it seems to line up that way

Yep, like memtioned in the manual. 0 is C2, 2 units are one semi tone, 24 units one octave.

I could not find anything on it in the manual. That being said I was looking at the most recent revision. That looks to be an older version. Likely I’ve missed it. Thank you :raised_hands:

You’re welcome!
That’s from the Mk1 manual, but also the Mk2 manual has on overview over the machines in appendix D. Just checked most recent versions on the Elektron site. It’s there on page 94 (Mk1) and page 98 (Mk2).

It tunes in quarter-tones like the evolver. Comes in handy all the time.
