Small tech demo where I’m fooling around, trying to get the AR into TB-303 Acid territory
Live recording with two foot pedals that output AR performance controllers.
No MIDI sequencer or external processing (except for slight bass EQ) was used.
All drums are AR synth sounds. The bassline uses a looped SID 8580 sawtooth sample.
Bit reduction is used to fade to ‘pulse’ wave and back.
Uses triangle LFO in HLF (half wave one shot) mode to emulate 303ish resonance envelope.

Really cool, any samples used?
I didn’t know the “half way” lfo, very good!!

Yep, one sample – the Commodore C64 sawtooth waveform.
This is just a test and not a proper track, of course.
Today I was mainly trying out how the AR plays along with external MIDI controllers.
It’s good fun and works well, I must say
With some external pedals/pots/faders you can practically use “performance mode” and “mute mode” at the same time – Very nice!
Here’s some more noodling, this time with with a Nanocontrol instead of the two EV-5 foot pedals:

Really nice relaxing Sound. What parameter is the destination for the lfo. The Filter envelope decay?

The HLF oneshot bassline LFO is mapped to the filter resonance to “emulate” the 303 attack characteristics.
Hmm…maybe you like this “noodle”…
The interesting bit about it is that, with some support from a (custom) MIDI sequencer, the bassline sound from the last two tests becomes more of a lead sound, with
[ul]
[li]vibrato (via a software LFO)[/li]
[li]pitchbending (the AR currently can’t do that out-of-the-box)[/li]
[li]and varispeed note-slides[/li]
[/ul]
…an AR performance controller hack, so to speak

Very nice work!
So the 303 line is coming from the sawtooth sample and not the actual internal analog machines?
Have you tried working with the analog machines/voices to create 303-ish sounds?
Yet it sounds totally sweet! Nice stuff.

Thanks
Yep the 303 line uses a sawtooth sample that is shaped by the analog filter/amp/overdrive/compression.
Today I tried to create bassline sounds w/o samples, i.e. by only using the analog machines.
Well that didn’t turn out too well, here’s what I ended up with:
Analog Rytm synth sounds only. No samples, no postprocessing.
Live recording using Korg Nanocontrol mapped to AR performance ctls.
I started out trying to create a synth-only bassline sound and 3 hours and 7 recording takes later, I ended up with this instead.
Sounds like a mad waterdragon, if that even makes any sense

(…the irony is, the “track” probably could use an acidic bassline…)
