Analog photography

So… I logged in again. Haven’t been to the site for a while, lot of losses in my private life, among my studiospace. I am now a digital nomad

I don’t have much to comment or topic about Elektrons, because the latest octatrack update fixed the last little tiny bit of frustration I had with it and my MD-UW never lets me down. I am in perfect sync with my elektrons and still love them.

What I do like to discuss is analog photography, I am about to embark on a round the world trip and just bought a Nikonos V. It is fun and rewarding work to use analog film and gear today, someone here must have something to say about it.

So any comments on using analog cameras on the road in this day and age? Discussing the nikonos cameras specifically would be awesome also, a very interesting underwater camera: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikonos

…and good to be back, missed you guys.

say hi when you are in berlin … when it comes to analog photography: the film is more expensive than SD cards :stuck_out_tongue: … enjoy your thing! sounds exciting!

Trabant, will do! Probably next summer, because Berlin is almost the end of the line!

I have been shooting underwater photography for years. sorry to be a stinker but, there is no reason to shoot with film. you are so limited.

There are very few places which carry film when traveling around the world anymore. In fact this summer my wife and I went on a trip and she forgot film. there was not a store on the Island which had film. If you feel the need to limit yourself. buy a bulk roller and over roll the canister.

I enjoy it and really like to do some b/w darkroom experiments when I return, I’m going to be on this trip for a while so no rush or need for a large supply of film. I’ll buy some if I run into it and if not, it’s not going to make the trip less fun!

Indonesia has an active scene for analog photography, but you are very right about the limitations. Here in nl we are fortunate to be able to buy film reasonably priced at a lot of places and having color developed and digitized is dirt cheap.

But I will bring a simple point and shoot digital camera as well.

Where did you photograph under water? And do you surf?
