Hi I’m thinking about purchasing an analog heat but have a few questions:
Mk1, Mk2 or +fx: is it worth paying the extra for a mk2 or paying further for the +fx. I don’t have a hardware setup (only an interface) and mainly plan to use the heat with overbridge. I’ve seen online that the fx are very expensive for the upageade and is wondering worth just getting an a mk1 or 2 for the price.
If I’m using over-bridge with ableton would it be limited to one track at a time. It’s not a deal breaker as I feel bouncing stuff to audio would make me commit while making and processing sounds but I am curious if could have multiple instances
…if ur in the ableton universe…u got heaps and heaps of digital fx…
and if there’s no other elektron gear right next to it, there’s no reason why u should bother about that updated led screens of the mk2 which was all the difference there was to mk1…
and if that’s all the case for u, the mk1 will do ALL totally FINE 100%…
Yes because the Analog Heat is a single unit. The plugin isn’t a digital recreation of the hardware - it controls the hardware - so if you want multiple instances, you’d need multiple Heats.
Good question actually. I know there was backlash about MK2 being released before the promised OB support came to AHMkI, but I never ended up knowing whether MKI got OB after all.
If your main purpose is to analog heat daw signals up, forget the digital FX. Another AD/DA conversion with some added latency, and although i own the non FX version, i doubt VST fx could not replace the elektron FX in one way or the other.
Whilst it’s true, your DAW has FX that can be freely re-ordered and probably sound way better than the FX in AH+FX, I personally feel AH+FX is the sum of its parts. Having modulation running across all the various components can result in some very unique sounds.
One feature I miss on my AH mk 1 is that it won’t do mono-to-stereo in terms of cabling. On the later AHs, as I understand it, you can plug in a mono source to L and the unit itself will mult it to the L and R outputs.
