Analog heat on Master buss etc?

Hi guys,

I have AH mkii and I bought it for using it on my master bus mostly
and when I saw this video:

I am concerned if I should use it on master.

In these examples the AH it sounds dull on master bus and in hihats

I was wondering if using the EQ fixes things or makes things worse?
I mean , using the EQ makes the saturation response in highs better or it just adds highs to the already saturated signal?
I can confirm the dullness in highs, I took the dry w.av files from this guy
Should I keep it on master or should I sell it?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you

I use it on the master typically on saturation mode with drive up right before it breaks up the highs. EQ boosted usually 3oclock and highs same if not more all on full wet. I also have done mastering that went to vinyl with it and it matches if not beats online analog mastering. I think it’s indispensable.

The first three circuits (clean, sat, enhance) are really nice on the master the rest are hit and miss unless you out to destroy your mix.

You shouldnt worry about Analog Heat sounding dull. In the video you linked to he didnt use any eq. And it is no problem getting the high end to shine with that box. The different distortion circuits have different eq settings anyway, so it might be that some are abit dull when you dont use the eq.

I love mine on the master bus. I thin i use it in the clean boost setting 80% of the time.

Thanks guys!
