Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me with this as I may be getting some wires crossed regarding audio routing ideas with the Heat…
I have a Tonverk, Virus Ti2, Cascadia and a DB-01 as part of my set-up. I have both In ports of the Tonverk being used by the Cascadia and the DB-01.
I was wondering, is it possible to route audio from the USB out to the Heat and from the Heat to my interface, whilst simultaneously routing the Virus TI2 outs to the Heat Ins and to my interface?
Could I also bring the Virus signal processed by the heat into my Tonverk via the USB In whilst still using the each mono in of the device?
Afaik the manual just states “The two sources of external audio input, audio over USB and audio from the IN A/B inputs, are merged, processed, and treated as a single source of input.”.
It is important to understand that no elektron device can act as a standalone USB host, so what that means is that any audio which leaves the elektron USB port has to first go through a host (computer or maybe a compatible tablet) in order to be passed on to any other device.
Two elektron devices connected directly via USB will not communicate with each other for audio or midi without a host device interpreting in the middle.
Audio leaving your Tonverk will either need to pass through a host (computer) and then be sent into the AH MKII, or it would need to come out of an analog audio output and be routed in the traditional manner.
I don’t think that there is any way of avoiding this.
This is true at the moment but I do wonder if they may be separated in future. I’m 50/50 on it though, it seems primarily aimed at sampling in and then using internally.
I currently have my Teo 5 going through an effects pedal, then into Digitone 2 input and both into Tonverks AB inputs in a sort of audio daisy chain so everything passes through the mix track compressor together. Works well.
I believe the Virus has inputs, perhaps the same could work for your setup.
