Analog Heat FX after SSL mixer for live set?

How are you integrating Analog Heat in your live sets?

Is it common to use the Heat FX after a mixer and send the output of the Heat directly into the PA system monitors?

I want all my gear to run through the Heat FX, primarily to use the Bass feature and set my bass to mono before it hits the main monitors.

I have an SSL mixer that I route my gear into, and I send the main outputs of the SSL mixer into the monitors (or dj mixer in some venues)

I guess im just asking if it’s common to use the heat after the mixer?
Or am I better off using the Heat as an insert on the master channel of my SSL?

Thank you

edit: the master inserts on my SSL are DB25 pins… that makes things a bit more complicated

I use my AH (mk2, not FX) as a master insert which I think works exactly the same as if I’d route the main out of my mixer to it, and out from the AH to monitors/PA/booth/DJ mixer.

same setup here, AH on master insert of xone 96 so i can send xlr to foh which is usually a bit easier than 1/4” TRS out of the heat.

thanks, i guess my brain just thinks having the analog heat as the final output to the speakers seems “wrong”

the problem with using my mixer for channel inserts is that is has a DB25 pin, doesnt seem so ideal to use…

I have also used AH as a final stage before sending my signal to the PA for live shows. Works fine. Eventually the Heat got swapped out for Boum, because I prefer compression but the Heat works as well. No issues.

It will work just fine if you don’t want to use the insert, let it rip!

Thanks!!

Thanks for this- does the Boum also have the feature like the Heat where it can turn your bass mono?

That’s really what I want it for
Unfortunately there’s nothing else I have found other than the heat that can do it

It does not but an easy solution to this is to run your whole signal chain in mono. I think stereo is overrated for live stuff anyway.

I like that attitude
