tried searching for a similar thread - closest i found was the thread about using filter feedback for osc1.

basically wondering- what are your favorite tips or hacks or discoveries in the a4 for interesting sound design?

i have gone back and forth about selling the a4 more times than any other synth. i find it very unlike any other synth i’ve used in that i almost exclusively end up in the most interesting places via routes i would never expect, and normal programming techniques result in sterile and uninteresting sound half the time.

would love to hear a4 fans favorite discoveries that have become preferred methods for designing interesting patches

Amplitude modulation

…doesn’t feel finished yet. Frequently it doesn’t sound like it’s doing anything. I also really wish it was a parameter instead of a switch. Strangely, it seems to be behave like a modulation when you assign an LFO to it. Discuss.

A4 deep bass tips?

Just wondering if any of you guys have any good tips for how to do strong and deep bass sounds. As an example: I have a Monotribe that’s really good for doing just that if you just crank the filters resonance and turn down the cutoff. I’m just not sure if it’s a limitation of the A4’s capacity to actually make that good old bass I want or if it’s me. Who is to blame? And will Elektrons next machine be named “Analog Bass”? Who knows, anyway…

Osc 1 Feedback

So the feedback input for Osc 1… Wow! I have been totally neglecting this parameter until last night. I have just opened myself a whole new can of worms. Squishy, distorted digitally controlled worms… Yum! This is now my new favorite feature of the A4. Couldn’t find much else about it either here or in the manual. All the manual says is that it is filter feedback. Sounds to me like it is feedback from Filter 1 (but not Filter 2) via Osc 2. In this example I have Osc 1 set to Feedback and Osc 2 …

Why can't the A4 do warm pads & chords? [SOLVED]

If you set either low pass to 60 or lower, the body disappears and the level heavily attenuates. I then find myself raising the filter to get enough level but then it’s too bright to be a warm sound. I’ve downloaded countless packs and made hundreds of my own sounds, but the closest I can get is using key tracked resonance on F2 to boost lower mids. But this is unwieldy and still not “warm”. My assessment points to the filters but I remember reading that the osc waveforms aren’t “true” in lowe…

FM-ish examples

I saw some requests (here and elsewhere) for examples of the FM-like capabilities of Analog Four OS 1.22 so… I recorded some of the patterns and sounds I had lying around since testing the new LFO to OSC sync features: (Yeah, they’re a bit noisy and rough, but it’s Friday night and I need to get going!)

wondering though, and this seems pretty basic, but does anyone know how he gets it to where his placed trig on track one doesnt have a click or gap when it refires after 16 steps?

don‘t know if he used that, but you can place a trig condition (1st) where it is only triggered in the first play through of the pattern and the put the note length to infinite
