There’s a couple of discussions on this topic already, the first being the most recent:
that is what I’m doing too… it slowly morphed into a percussion machine for me.
I also use one sound per trig and it’s percussion is layered over my kick, snare and hats which are on my OT which I also use for stems. I then record the tracks of the Analog 4 and OT I want using CUE for transitioning using the “transition trick” that everyone here knows.
this works well for me so far and the A4 makes nice percussion.
So far I have not saved that many sounds… only kits. each kit is the next par…

After all your explanations, I think that the Analog 4 is not my ideal first choice and I´m now considering the Analog Rytm or the Octatrack. However, as I live in Brazil and shipping the gear back is not a viable, I need to be precise in my acquisition.

Having said that, I use an A4 Mk1 as a drum synth all the time, and it’s generally excellent for that purpose, especially when using sound locks to add more than one drum or synth sound to a sequencer track.
