Oh, I see. I guess that´s inherent to analog circuits at least to some degree. Maybe they could improve it, though. Maybe an auto tune function that kicks in if the synth isn´t used in a while like some synths have.

Having played with this a bit more, I do wonder if it’s buggy - or I’ve misunderstood what it’s meant to do.

This is most audible if you use a very slow random LFO on oscillator pitch. It seems like each time the random LFO picks a new value the slewing starts from the midpoint of the parameter, i.e. the non-LFO’d value, rather than the current one from the LFO.

You can hear the slewing altering the rate of the pitch changes, but I would expect a continuously flowing change of pitch whereas what you seem to get is a set of pitch changes which always start from the base value and then slew towards the randomised LFO pitch.

I’ve tried the same slewed pitch LFO on my DN2 and it works as I’d expect, i.e. continuously slewing pitch changes, not resetting back to the base pitch for each random value.

Can anyone else give it a try and confirm?

I too noticed something funky about how it works. It’s no quite slewed but I’m unable to fully understand whats going on. All I know that I really like it now and that some kind of softer version of the s&h has been sorely needed and now it’s reality.

Yes, LFO Random Slew (like on many other machines) was included in 1.55 but not mentioned in the release notes. It is however unpredictable and not working properly so we’ll fix that in an upcoming update.

Could you by any chance remove the mod destination menu closing in automatically as well?
That would be so cool and helpful as it’s a very limiting thing.

exactly. after installing 1.55 I went to the LFO to slew the rnd voltages and basically I’ve had exactly this thought „unpredictable and not working properly“

after reading your comment @Strutter I thought na na, it’s not exactly like it should be (not commenting) and here we are :cowboy_hat_face:

quick little first sketch with 1.55, used the euclidean sequencer for the chord pattern - i think i got a lot better at mixing since my last batch of stuff on the a4!

How do those rotate functions on the euclidean mode work and why is their order 1, 2 and 0?

10.8.14 RO1
Rotation generator 1 rotates the trigs placed by generator 1 forward or backwards on the track.
10.8.15 RO2
Rotation generator 2 rotates the trigs placed by generator 2 forward or backwards on the track.
10.8.16 TRO
Track rotation rotates the trigs placed by both generator 1 and generator 2 forward or backwards on the track.

TRO = Track ROtation

Whilst I like you’re idea and would love the ability to loop between steps, I’m not sure this solution works.

For example; how would I loop between trigs on the same page (eg: steps 20 - 24)? Your suggestion would require pressing the Page Trig twice which currently would enable then disable the loop status of that Page.

Also, page looping works across non consecutive pages. Your solution would assume that playback would be between the start and end points which would change the way it currently works because currently, you can loop between non-consecutive (eg: pages 1 & 3, skipping over page 2).

Could be done so:
By pressing a STEP after a TRIG1-4 the A4 “knows” it’s about STEP LOOP and not PAGE LOOP. In case you want to stay on the same TRIG1-4 for your loop, either it “allows” then to press the same TRIG1-4 a second time to then press the END STEP or - second solution - you simple press the END STEP immediately after the START STEP. In case the loop overlaps to the next TRIG1-4 (= you don’t want to stay on the same TRIG1-4 page) you then have to first press that next TRIG1-4 and then the END STEP.

For STEP LOOP non-consequent pages don’t make sense = would be “over the top”

And if I wanted to loop between 2 pages? Eg: steps 12 to 24

as i had described:
PAGE+TRIG1 then (still holding PAGE) STEP12
then (still holding PAGE) + TRIG2 then (still holding PAGE) STEP24

I’m battle testing your idea here… what about looping steps 2 - 4? on Page 1 of a 4 bar sequence?
