Analog 4 MK2 interpreting Komplete Kontrol S49 Aftertouch as Pitch Bend 0

Using Ableton Live I’ve got my Komplete Kontrol S49 MK1 sending usb midi to the Analog4 MK2 via Overbridge plugin. For some reason as soon as I hit the slightest aftertouch on the Komplete Kontrol, the pitch bend shifts down as low as possible. Sliding the pitch bend ribbon resets it to center. If I play with aftertouch pressure while sliding the pitch bender I can hear the two “fighting” back and forth as the conflicting messages are sent.

Watching messages from the Komplete Kontrol via MIDI-OX confirms that it’s indeed Aftertouch messages causing it, no errant Pitch Bend messages are being sent.

In the Analog4 Sound Settings Aftertouch is assigned to OSX vibrato as is default.

I tested the S49 to Analog4 via MIDI cable and the problem was gone. Unfortunately not a viable solution for me though as the S49 MIDI mode only works with USB unplugged.

I also tested playing my minilogue with the S49 through Ableton Live the same way; no aftertouch pitch bend weirdness.

I’m a little out of my depth here as to what might be causing this. Any ideas?

I suppose I could use the minilogue as controller instead (indeed it’s much easier to change the midi send channel) but the keys leave a lot to be desired next to the Komplete Kontrol. I considered filtering out aftertouch messages as well; I don’t use it all that often, but it seems more like a bandage than a true fix and I can’t think of a simple and flexible way to do it offhand.

Vibrato is actually a sort of PB. What is the speed of vibrato ? The simplest would be to assign pb to none or another parameter ?

OB’s handling of aftertouch from external sources seem to be messed up, affecting PB (which will drop to the lowest setting). i hadn’t noticed it because i’m using the Analog Keys where it works as expected (no external MIDI, maybe using NRPN internally?), but when controlling the AK from another MIDI controller, i see the same as you.

Go to support/ticket then ?

I have observed this too - seems like a MIDI handling glitch, i also note that teh modulators section is not applying the correct depths when controller info is coming in via midi via OB, but will behave correctly if arriving via DIN (some depths are effectively halved)

Send in a ticket, i have brought this up for a different version - this topic should be in teh overbridge section imho as it is only buggy when used via the Plugin/standalone - it behaves properly for me when using the device and good old din midi

Thanks for confirming! I can stop banging my head against this problem now. Sent in a support ticket :+1:
