I wasn’t really part of the community on e-u, just there for tech tips and learning how to use the MD I’d bought. Never did really learn to make anything decent, but that wasn’t e-u’s fault. Because of why I was there, it felt more technical to me than “social”, but reading the comments here from the e-u regulars it seems there was plenty of community spirit.
I didn’t sign up for an account here right away, just lurked anonymously. When I did eventually sign up I had to shorten my old e-u username because elektronauts has a limit on username length. Never forgiven this site for that
This place definitely feels different to e-u, but not better or worse, just different. We’re all different anyway and so is the internet, or maybe it just feels different because I’m mostly here for music memes and shitposting about screen protectors these days.
missing elektron-users; but also the case for other forums of this period that disappear.
the difference from today from what i feel is that there were less people and that was making people a little more close.
elektron was at that time coming with machinedrum and monomachine which made feel us with very innovative gears in our hand, the ratio of thread “looks what i just found we can do” versus “gas thread” was different XD.
but i’m far less invested in this forum that i was with EU; which doesn’t help to be close and connected to people. Also the “looks what i just found we can do” are still there i think, just more burried; and maybe we already found lot’s of magic tricks; that maybe harder today.
i was a little worried that elektronauts would be under elektron moderation; but it doesn’t bring anything bad in the end.
Alppila reprezent!
Been a while… what year is it? What happened to Ryan? I’ve been gone a minute…
I became an Elektron fanboi when I bought Rytm MKI as soon as it was announced… been riding their d since
Oooh, iirc I joined Elektronauts Mk1 in 2014 before it was ported onto Discourse. I’d lurked and learned loads on the old Elektron Users Forum though, had MD+MnM a few years before and the forum posts were indispensible.
Been on here almost every day this last 10 years though, and it’s because it’s a damn good read and there are really interesting and varied people on here who can have a conversation without spitting dummies out or goading each other. At least it’s massively better in that respect than any other internet forum I’ve ever used. Which goes a long way for me!
I don’t post very often myself, but hey, I have a busy life and a realistic approach to gauging how much of my stuff people really want to hear about…
I don’t know why I didn’t see this reply when it was posted in the fall, but I just wanted to say thank you, and how humbling and flattering it is to hear that you bought a release of mine, in hardcopy, no less!
I was just telling someone the origin story of my guitar today (it belonged to Actuel), so these memories are timely. ![]()

Was that the Innerclock guy?
I think I joined E-U in 2005 or so
That’s the one!
In what world did @Actuel and I start Elektron-Users over 20 years ago? RIP Daniel H, who gave me a great deal on an SFX-6 (now owned by @chiasticon) as well as a light blue ELEKTRON shirt, circa 2005. I wore the shirt at my Zero Boys gig at Riot Fest this year, but nobody noticed.
A world I wish I could return to.
In any other reality we would not all be here now and connected in this way that is somehow very special to many of us. So regardless of anything else, thank you for that.
Elektron-Users. That all started for me when I got a Machinedrum.
I feel old now
Seeing Jamalski on your fliers made me feel old. Haven’t thought about that guy in years.
Do it in the Dancehall is a stone cold banger.
To be honest I was never much of a fan but he’s a super nice guy.
I like hearing that. I never really got that in to him, but that song would definitely be a needle drop in the movie of my life. Good guy, good song. Good stuff!
He played a lot of Norcal parties in the late 90’s and early 00’s with Rinse, or maybe Flux occasionally. He was definitely getting out there. Or maybe I was just going to too many jungle parties, I don’t know. Probably both.
Well put, thank you!
