AMP section problem

Hi there,

english is not my first language, i’m sorry for the approximative vocabulary.

Since the day i did the upgrade to 1.01, it looks like there is a problem in AMP section. ATK, HLD & DEC are not working very well. i’m not hearing any sound changes…

Turning knobs make numbers moving but no changes heard!
and the problem is for ALL type of machines and ALL tracks -(
i don’t know if i’m clear.

is this happens to anyone?

:-/

Yep having the same problem. Reported to hq already?

@sb-six yes i report it after re-upgrade.

Hi,

what values have you tried on the LENgth parameter on the Trig page?
The length of the trig defines the “gate signal”, or the note-on and note-off timing, that drives the envelopes. Too short or too long can give unexpected results if you’re not aware of this.

Also, if the DECay parameter is long, the envelope might not reach zero before the next trig, and then the ATtacK parameter does not start from zero. If DECay is infinite, the next ATtacK phase does not show up.

I’m also noticing that the ATK HLD and DEC parameters of the AMP section is not working ever since the update, regardless of their settings /mr.

Hi /mr,
thank you for ur advices. i play a bit with your tips in BD & OH and it helped a bit. but it feels not so confortable in my opinion.
i don’t understand it all for the moment and it looks like i have to remembers those lil’ parameters. not so easy if i want to lose myself in chaos …

Also i found the chromatic mode is weird too. (i can’t explain in english sorry) i think in chromatic there is some weird envelop things…

i will play with the beast like that for the moment and i’m sure it will become less opaque w/ updates -)

nice work Elektron!

I am just playing around with this, and I think now actually it is not a bug, it is a very, very cool feature, more than I was hoping for. The triggers are accumulating on the envelopes. This way you will get a very organic sequence/sound interaction. More later.

has anyone definitively figured this issue out? i do manage using the length parameter to sometimes get it so that the knobs do have an effect, but it seems overly complicated for an envelope system. am i just totally not understanding the concept behind this page?

i won’t call this an issue  even though at the beginning i was like: wtf?!
as /mr has mentioned, check what’s the trig length and which are the values for hold and decay.
try set the trig length to something like 6.00 and hold and decay to 20, now start changing the attack value and hear what comes out…
also, try using samples and you’ll hear the difference

Thanks for this thread, all of this was certainly news for me! So you’re saying that for a synthdrum sound, there are 3 subpages of envelopes which all affect the final sound? Need to invest more time to the trig subpage it seems…

FWIW the Elektron user manuals would benefit from some practical examples with the units in question. The manuals themselves are good reference documents to all the features but leave a lot of guesswork as on how everything comes together in actually using the machine…

Why don’t you just sell it and buy something else that doesn’t drive you crazy? You’ve only got one heart you know.
