Amazon UK asking for Photo ID

Hi

I’m after some advice if some could help that would be great

I ordered a replacement battery for my macbook on Monday on Tuesday it was delivered saying handed to resident

Now I was working no one home I got home asked neighbours nothing

Went to report it to amazon have to wait 48 hours to report it

Reported it and was told I have to send them photo Id to get a refund

There’s no evidence that it was delivered only what the driver has said

Has anyone else had a similar situation and what was the outcome as I really don’t want to have to provide my I’d just to get a refund I just want what I paid for

Thanks

If it’s concerning to you I can share that Amazon in the US (probably the same foreign call center though) once made me do something similar to verify an issue and that I was the actual claimant? Maybe there’s a similar scam that they deal with or something.

Situation for me was that I received something which was in a little bag which had a product number on the printed tag which stated the item in the bag, however the item actually in the bag was not the correct item, they had somehow put a different item into the single sale bags with the UPC scan code of what I ordered. So, the bag said the item was correct, the item sealed in the bag was actually incorrect.

Anyways, they ultimately resolved it but for some reason I had to prove it was me making the claim along with showing that it was the wrong item in the bag.

Like I said, I’m not UK based but I don’t think Amazon support is either, so I suspect this is like some kind of response out of the escalation binder when something meets certain criteria, but I don’t deal with Amazon support frequently so I don’t know, just thought I would share that I got a vaguely similar response to a slightly different issue.

I had item delivered a while ago ( uk ) … it was to my post code … which is slightly different to my actual address .
Often websites use a predefined list based on post code … very few of those lists offer my exact flat and number for my building.

Basically - if your post code defaults to a nearby building id go there.

My item … marked as delivered … was on the doorstep of a nearby building which seems to be one of the defaults for those drop down lists.

The actual package had my accurate number / flat number … as I said they didn’t seem
To read it.

I mostly get things delivered to a nearby shop / locker .
