Am I the only one (w/ no Elektron)?

So I was wondering if I’m the only one who is here to talk with others about electronic music production but doesn’t own any elektron gear
I was just looking for a forum for electronic music production and this was the only active and friendly when I found and I really like it here
But sometimes I’m wondering if I’m wrong here because when people post music it’s mostly made with elektron stuff and maybe people don’t wanna hear music made with other gear so I thought I just ask

I don’t think anyone is wrong here !
For myself, I’ve owned pretty much all Elektron gear, but never clicked with it. I want to love them, but I’ve got issues with the workflow and step pattern based music in general. But I do think they are awesome instruments.

Welcome - you are absolutely right here … this forum is about very different topics and Elektron gear is only a part of it.

I have a couple of Elektron boxes, love them, but mostly I use other gear. Everybody has a different approach to create electronic music and uses different gear

Of course not. What made you think this?

I guess most people are more Elektron minded that visit this forum… at least that is what I think… But off course every topic can be discussed
Depended on your country u probably find some interesting native language synth/production sites. Some ideas:
For Germany there is a good site called ww.sequencer.de
For the Netherlands https://www.synthforum.nl
English: https://audiosex.pro

I have owned both a Syntakt and a Cycles and didn’t get on with either of them.

I don’t even use hardware that much other than the Polyend Tracker.

I’m an Elektron head, but I’m a gear head first and foremost! Stick around!

Nope, you’re welcome.
Maybe an Elektron head to be

No you’re not. I sold all of my Elektron gear in 2024 to fund the move from California to Florida. When Tonverk released I got one. This is probably the most helpful and productive music forum I’ve been to. There’s a wealth of information here and I can use the search box and get answers or references I need.

I mean everyone posting in Mission Briefs is giving it their best and having a community like this is helping them grow as a musician.

Welcome to the club

As I mentioned here before, I don’t own any elektron gear, nor do I foresee owning any.

I’m here for the knowledgeable nice people, and the fact that I don’t care about elektron gear allows me to skip the nastiest parts of the forum (something about a a sliced von twerk, not sure really).

This is my happy place in the internet.

Thanks everyone.

I owned pretty much all elektron boxes at a moment or another.

Don’t currently own any.

Came for the box(es), stayed for the folks !

absolutely the same !

I go right back to the OG forum, when I was a Monomachine & Machinedrum owner… then over the past 15 years ( ? yikes ! must be something like that !) I think I’ve owned all the Elektron boxes at one time or another, apart from the Octatrack, Digitone & Heat… but I currently have no Elektrons again at the moment. It’s a kind of cycle ! The Tonverk has half tempted me back into the fray, but I think I may hang on & see what they come up with next.

This is just a f*cking cool forum, folks, so even with no Elektrons in the arsenal right now, it’s still a great place to hang out. : )

Owning Elektron gear is no qualification for coming on here and moaning about Elektron gear.

I haven’t owned any Elektron gear for years and I still harbour strong feelings about their continued snubbing of my cupholder requests.

The Bastards.

I came for the Syntakt (which I eventually sold) and I stayed for Other Gear. I do feel the impostor syndrome, though. @Amethystswitch, thank you for starting this conversation.

PS: I also stayed here because it is a contemporary, open, and extremely well moderated forum, something that is lacking pretty much everywhere else where I should be contributing more based on the music production software and instruments I use.

Thank you all for your kind replies
It’s not that I don’t like Elektron gear but I am visually impaired and I work better with something that has lighted pads so the deluge is just right for me
I like this place very much. I have looked to other forums but I find the tone quite harsh there
if you don’t have the most expensive gear which I didn’t have until recently you are treated like an outsider
Also, I I am visually impaired and chronically ill so sometimes I have some mistakes in my songs which I can’t refine due to my disability and because of that I have been laughed at or my music hasn’t been taken seriously in other places this never happened here

Here everyone’s music is taken very seriously, and I love this!
If one doesn’t like it, there is so much more to listen to!

I feel you on the screen problem…
I have good eyes but they are aging and small screen is starting to give me weird eyes, after a couple hours.

M8 offers to be plugged on a screen, which is really nice.
Now that I think of it, Overbridge could be a thing you would enjoy, if you are OK with opening a DAW.

But anyway, I wish you the best with what you have, it’s not like you need an Elektron to be here.

I’m mostly here for the GAS

That’s telling much about them … and nothing good.

IMO … a real artist never defines his or her worth or the worth of creation by the high cost of the equipment used. I respect artists crafting the most astonishing art with the most simple equipment most … if that makes any sense

I read from users that they don’t own an Elektron piece (anymore?) all the time here.

I think it’s incredible that they host this place and pay for all the traffic with no rules attached when it comes to what gear or topics we can discuss. I’ve learned so much about all kinds of gear other than Elektrons here and also read lot of good advice and support for general life stuff.
