Alessandro Cortini of NIN: Using a Cassette Recorder as an Instrument | Reverb Interview

Saw this a while back I believe. It’s a super cool technique

I saw him do stuff like this on a rig rundown once and it made me buy an old Fostex 4-track. Haven’t used it live yet but it’s an awesome production tool too. It has this very nice saturation / drive when you feed it hot signals and messing around with the pitch can get cool results.

This and I still need to get a power supply for my tascam 4 track

Hipster!!

That’s pretty cool… I wish I had my old Tascam back. So many hours recording weird shit in my basement room as a late teen and it never occurred to me to utilize it like that. Far out, man…

Ahhhhhhhhh woooohooooo just about to watch this!!! Can’t wait!!! @DimensionsTomorrow just as we were talking about cassettes!

If you want to hear cortini‘s sound you have to listen to his solo stuff. Avanti was his latest record and most of this video features a track of that album.
That said, I highly recommend NIN :grinning:
But it‘s all about Trent Reznor

I’m going to totally dig into the solo stuff. I’m loving the amount of YouTube vids covering his work.
