Even some of my favorite albums have filler tracks in the middle that just aren’t on the same level as the other more polished or well-known songs. What are some great albums in any genre that are end to end burners? No filler.
brand nubian - one for all
Boards of Canada Geogaddi
Jan Jelinek Loop Finding Jazz Records
The Avalanches Since I Left You
I had never heard of them until their -probably- album promo interview ( i posted it in the Interviews Megathread). I must say it was a really good interview and very detailed too in terms of what they use, how they produce etc. Since that day, this album is literally on my loop. I only listen some of my other favorite DJ sets for a change. Other than that, it’s playing all.the.time.
I am not just listening but studying/analyzing those tracks because I am really impressed and even touched by some of these tracks. Just amazing work!
If we go back in time, I think it’s Hear My Cry by Sonique. It was mind-blowing.
It’s also the first CD I’ve ever bought. Fun times!
Faces by Mac Miller is my favorite album from start to finish. even originally released it as one long mixtape, its probably the only “concept album” i’ve enjoyed from this generation of popular musicians
Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory
Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret
Billie Holiday - Solitude
Luke Vibert - Chicago, Detroit, Redruth
Blink 182 enema of the state. Maybe there are better albums but this is the only album (of my favorites) that truly has no filler
Prodigy - The Fat of the Land
Pearl Jam - Ten
Cranes- Wings of Joy
Deftones- White Pony
Front 242- Official Version
Ladytron- Light and Magic
Skinny Puppy- Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate
J.J Cale- Naturally. Despite having some serious hits on the album, every single track is outrageous.
Thee Oh Sees - The Masters Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In.
Beastie Boys- Paul’s Boutique. A sampling masterpiece. Gets better with nearly every listen. Brilliant.
Jesus Lizard- Goat.
The Whip - self titled 7”. I’d flip it over and play it over and over and over.
What’s an album?
Man I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard an album that I’ve loved 100% throughout. Fugees The Score is pretty close though!
