Akai Rhythm Wolf audio USB

Anyone else using this machine around this forum? I was thinking about how cool would be having individual outs even through usb cable, but I guess this is something just for midi, isn’t it? What are your experiences with this machine? Anyone still using it?

Never had one, but Bad Gear has an episode about it.

There seem to be a way to add individual physical outs with some “easy” modding, tho I’m interested to know if there is a way to output individual outs along usb, similar to Roland’s drum machine or even Elektron’s

Easiest would probably be to do the mod for multiple outputs, and then run them into a multi channel audio interface like the Tascam 12 (if you want faders).

That’s a good idea but I was thinking more in the line of processing the possible (usb) individual outs using Ableton and its internal efx

Understood, but in order to process the Wolf’s outputs in Ableton you need some way to get those outputs into your computer.

The way to do that is with an audio interface that has as many inputs as you’d like to bring in. The Wolf doesn’t have a hidden audio interface just waiting to be unlocked. You either need to add a commercially available interface, or DIY in your own.

DIYing in an audio interface is probably roughly a Mercedes S-Class worth of engineering work. (maybe just a nice C-class for someone who has the knowledge to DIY solo, but the cost goes up when helping out someone new)

A more practical solution is to record each track individually using a cheap interface like the UCA222, and then assemble them together in Ableton.

Modding should be the answer and Motu the connections to
Ive got an old hybrid mk3 that works like a charm with the Machinedrum already.
Thanks for the help, I was only dreaming about the chance of using a simple USB cable but thats right, the device should have an internal soundcard to works as such.
