devs keep letting that touch strip guy into the conference room… he should have been black balled from the industry 12 years ago, but he just keeps hopping around to company after company… yuck
how could the first question not have been ‘does it feel better than a fader?’
and how could the first answer not have been ‘he double hockey sticks NO!’ like 100% of the time
Thinking about it some more, there are led indicators at the side of these 8 touch strips… if that enables them to update across banks of 8 and give you real-time positioning data for ‘fader volumes’, that could be workable, although I’d still much prefer a fader.
What I don’t get is, where did Akai get the idea for a device with these controls? I’m confident that if you asked a mixed group of say, 1,000 Ableton Live users, they would rather have sturdy physical knobs and faders (and a bloody crossfader) than no knobs, no faders and touchstrips.
Not a fan of the physical outline of it. That soft ‘X’ shape isn’t super appealing. Apart from that, it looks like a Novation Launchpad Pro MK3 with touch strips.
Damn, what is that? Looks like one of those mockups posted frequently. I seriously looked into getting a MK2 but space was limited. Main sellings points are endless encoders + fader for me.
