Akai MPC Sample

This oddity popped up on Altomusic’s US eBay. Look real enough. Nice price too. Presumably it’s inmusic’s rebuttal to the KO2.

I think Alto leaked another MPC in the past.

Seems like they’re going after KOII and the 404 mkII. I don’t have a need for one, but it looks like fun

I hope it has stem separation. That would make it a no-brainer.

The Ebay listing is still visible:

For nearly 40 years, MPCs have shaped the sound and culture of modern music production. MPC Sample carries this legacy forward by making the art of sampling more accessible and approachable than ever before. Inspired by the legendary MPC60 and MPC3000, this portable sampler, sequencer, and effects processor puts the iconic workflow of vintage MPCs into a compact, modern format with features that empower limitless creativity.

Legendary MPC pads, a full-color display, and simple creative controls encourage hands-on sampling, looping, and beatmaking right out of the box. For immediate idea generation, this standalone hardware comes with over 100 kits, inspiring pad and knobs effects, and an intuitive chopping workflow.

MPC Sample is equipped with all the storage and connectivity options creatives need. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery, microSD card storage, an onboard sequencer, an internal microphone, a built-in speaker, and USB-C connection make it easy and convenient to record, edit, and play back audio on the go—no computer or DAW required.

Fake. That’s not even Akai logo any longer.

They still use that logo on special editions. It’s real.

Can’t tell if the knobs are HUGE or the pads are TINY

If it’s more user-friendly than the the somewhat cryptic SP-404 MKII, P-6, and KOs, then I’m in. I think. I’m really good at finding stuff I don’t like with samplers.

I saw some leaks today and it looked fake. but these hi-res images on that ebay listing changed my perspective.
Looks real enough to me, although I fuckin hate that old logo. I’m sure gonna cover it with something.

Other than that, judging by the buttons looks like a potent calculator to me

Bring it on Akai!

Bonus rant: wtf is wrong with them that they keep pushing that PVC pillow. Wasted space if you ask me. Except if they hid the battery in there.

What is this?! MPC FOR ANTS? These pads are going to need to be at least… 3 TIMES BIGGER.

Man… the Ableton Move has tiny pads. Circuit Rhythm has tiny pads. Hell… Lofi12 xt has smaller pads.

I have sausage fingers and damn those small pads are rippin’
Honestly I found the MPC 2500, Renaissance and Live… having HUGE pads and very distanced. If I wanted to play bass lines and melodies I had to spread my fingers like I was playing Twister.

Hah . I think those are the same size as the new MPK mini. As a finger drummer they require a little break in but are very responsive for light note playing. And it’s got a wrist wrest for Alchemist to put his blunt on .

Also Syntakt + MPC Sample is gonna be a crazy setup for tight spaces.

The button functions say a lot about the functionality as well. Looks like a very well packed and thought beat machine.

And just like that, they finally created a product that maximizes on all the things MPCs do better than other devices and ditches the touchscreen and all the stuff people who just want sampling/chopping/looping don’t want.

Even if the sequencer is garbage this still immediately becomes a strong contender to be the best drum sampler for many folks.

Yep - RESAMPLE

Looks cool, I think it would sit somewhere between the KO II and SP-404 MKII (in functionality and ease of use). Waiting for specs to see towards which one it will lean more.
