If that update lands; would you be able to run Force FX on a Digitakt by routing the Digitakt into the force over USB?
No, like on the MPC Live, the Force would only support class compliance at 44.100ā¦
I have a similar setup, works great. If the Force update will include the same audio card support as the MPC Live, and I donāt see why it wouldnāt, then you can easily add hardware effects as send/returnsā¦
im guessing youāre using a mixer to send them into the 2 inputs of the Force?
Currently on a 8i6 focusrite; considering upgrading to a mixer.
Thanks for that, yeah Iām gonna give it a go, I have a similar set up at the moment anyway, synths and effects going through a zed 14 - just one more question if you donāt mind. Regarding the limitation of 8 audio tracks, Iāve seen with the new mpc upgrade it allows 32 I/o, if that update was to come to the force how would that work, where would the other 24 tracks go!
The MPC and Force are currently limited to 8 āaudio tracksā, meaning effectively the equivalent of audio tracks in a DAW - you can have other tracks playing MIDI or sequenced samples, but not linear audio. On the MPC at least, thereās a five minute limit on each audio track, which I think is to ensure that every new project is guaranteed to support eight tracks (the anticipated streaming support could improve this).
Despite this limit, itās worth noting that tracks that use samples have more time available to them than the audio tracks - up to 20 minutes on the MPC, and I think the Force might be 15 for some reason. So as long as thereās enough RAM, you can go beyond the 8x5m limit by using sample tracks - but you wonāt be able to scrub through them or start partway through a long sample, which you can with audio tracks.
I expect the main use for more than 8 input channels would be to function as a kind of patchbay, so you could take a 16 input mixer and route any of the 16 channels / main bus to the eight audio tracks (or the sampler) on the MPC / Force.
Good info, thanks
I think with the new update, MPC now has 10 audio tracks.
Edit: I was incorrect here, its still 8 tracks
Havenāt tested the limits, but the 2.10 manual still has it at eight⦠I think any more would push the RAM too far (assuming they were all used to max capacity), although I guess optimisation could improve thisā¦
My bad, just tested it, youāre right its still 8. Not sure where I saw 10 from tbh
Iāve ordered one, canāt afford to keep both it and the OT so will see how it goes
But they will play so well with each other. And they will be lonely without each others company.
Iām hoping not
Had the same.painful decision to make. Impulsive one since I just traded my grey ot for a black one but force is great! For me the sweatspot between not wanting to look at a screen as much while still having the overview and options of Ableton.
The push 3, if it ever comes, could learn a lot here! Imagine a Ableton controller focused on performance as well as just lowering screentime.
Iām forcing (ā¦) myself to work with the Force only and get to know the internal synth and Iām really happy by the results. Iām going for some Alessandro Cortini vibes and the aftertouch and velocity really add lots of movement, but I still prefer to play it from the Microfreak.
I might downsize to a Live and I would miss the clip workflowā¦
Itās coming
Thatās it in a nutshell, first world Akai problems⦠Force or MPC?
I have the Force and an MPC Live 2 at the moment, and I really like having the combination of them.
Since the MPC 2.10 update Iāve spent a lot more time on the MPC because itās sooo good.
People talk about using Elektron devices together here all the time (obviously because itās Elektronauts), but I would argue the combination of an MPC/Force would be hard to beat when you think of the possibilities/functionality it gives you.
When the force update hits it will be quite the device paired with just a mixer!
I tried something completely different for me and made a more ambienty electronic song just with the internal Force plugins, Iām quite happy with the sounds and the mix, not too happy with the composition and structure as the āloopā nature of this track can easily be noticed. Using the master lfo to multiple destinations helped adding a bit of extra movement.
what would you say the Force adds to your mpc?
