don’t ableton and akai use same company to make hardware controller.
i’m put off by the fact its based on akai mpc and it costs a lot.
I’m fine with what ive got.
they mention wifi access to Splice , but dont indicate any wifi in the spec list. and i’m not sure splice is free , when i tried it there was a subscription to it.
The Splice integration is pretty interesting actually.

I’m not sure why I’ve never been able to get into MPC’s. Workflow doesn’t jive with me for some reason, though I was tempted by the X at one time.
This Force…man I just cannot stand the way it looks and I’m rarely fussed about that sort of stuff
So, the clip matrix is closer to ableton’s after all, enabling mix & match of all types of MPC track content. Very cool!
I do wonder how this new clip mode will fit into MPC legacy paradigms like sequences, song mode and especially NEXT SEQ… And what about TC, NOTE REPEAT?
16GB is the size of the internal disk, not RAM, just like on the MPC live, right?
and it’ll fit my MPCs SSD as well?
If this ships with the full MPC OS ( ie. same as live & X), I might flip my live for this one instead. I already have a live & a touch, maybe force + touch would be a better combo for my needs (touch for the studio, force for the gig)? The included mic pres could be very valuable to have in that scenario, wouldn’t have to lug around a mixer anymore… and then the mics could be looped, fxed etc… Heck, if Akai comes up with a way to record MIDI and audio straight into the clip matrix, this might indeed be the closest thing to Ableton in hardware form yet.
I’m honored, never been sig’d. I get it, it’s not very sexy. The colourful pads are actually what err’d me away from maschine initially but it’s one of my favourite bits of gear now.
My main setup is an octatrack, a launchpad pro, a maschine mk3, an iPad and occasionally my old MPC when not using maschine. It’s like my whole rig had a baby and I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry

audio tracks? what do you mean?
Currently, the standalone MPCs support a maximum of 8 simultaneous stereo audio tracks ( MPC software supports up to 128 audio tracks tho). This seems to have the same limitation… Although Dan from Akai has again hinted on GS that adding HDD / SSD disk streaming to standlone MPC will be a top priority for them in 2019. If they manage to pull it off, I’m pretty sure the 8 audio track limit will change, maybe not to 128 max, but surely will increase.

It’s a really interesting machine; I mean, MPC Live / X was too finger-drumming centered for me (yeah I know, it’s an MPC after all) and Force is the opposite: a Push-style standalone (those pads, those buttons, those little displays for knobs, clip centered…), just a really nice concept.
I see it have same synth engines as MPC Live and another similars specs, I hope they create some more engines in the future so it will not just become a Push-interface version of MPC Live / X.
The name reminds me of the Nintendo U Force which probably inspired the Roland D Beam.
This thing looks cool though. A standalone push with Mpc 4000 real-time swing edit. Wait a minute you can still use 16 pads to finger drum too.
