I’m itching to have flex beat on my Force, it’s been fun used sparingly on my MPC.
And I thought the science had settled on a pear shaped earth

Why the snark? Just because you haven’t experienced an activation issue doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Here’s my experience with wonky MPC/Force plugin activation from Spring '23:
I bought the MPC Instrument Collection for use with my Akai Force. All the plugins associated with this package (Stage Piano, Studio Strings, etc) show up as registered in my inMusic registration page. I’d been using them successfully until one evening I booted my Force and I started getting the error message “Could Not Validate License from the Server”. This persisted across reboot, re-logging in, etc.
I filed a help ticket immediately but didn’t get a response in a timely manner. Somebody must have eventually rebooted the Akai license servers, because after 3-4 days the issue resolved itself.
Two months later ( ) Akai support finally responded to my support ticket. “Sorry for the delayed response…” was the opening line. That’s inMusic support for you…
Are you actually saying me and all these other people taking screenshots of the errors are having sharing some mass hysteria event?
We are a community.
Of music and instruments lovers.
Why on Earth do you bring politics on the table to divide?
Can’t we look towards what unites us?
(Rhetoric question, please don’t answer here)
Agreed. Especially since we’re divided enough already just because of the OS, plugins, sampler/groove box or DAW we choose to gravitate towards!
Not sure why so much activation issue denial, but activation issues with Akai plugins on standalone for both Force and MPC is definitely a thing.
It’s gotten better, but I and many others have experienced it and it is annoying.
You don’t have to google anything, maybe just take other users concerns and issues seriously instead of being dismissive 🤷
I do tend to agree, but there must be a modem of critical thinking and information verification involved. No one should never, ever - take someone’s statement on the Internet (here or anywhere else) - as “fact” without doing the due diligence to verify the information. I’m sure you would agree? There’s already so much fake news and false information on the Internet, you’d be irresponsible to not do so. And for those making the claims, the burden of proof is absolutely on their shoulders. That’s how science works.
That said, I absolutely 100% believe you and everyone else that they’ve had issues in the past (and even in the present) authorizing Akai plugins for offline use. I’ve personally seen random posts about this in various other social media outlets and I have personally experienced the issue on my MPC and Force.
Their system is a hot mess, and while it has gotten a lot better - you still have to log in to your account and authenticate periodically with no way of knowing when you need to do it. And I hate that. It’s a stupid system and for anyone who gigs/tours with their MPC/Force, this is a major issue still. For everyone else, enjoy being a bedroom or hobbyist musician. Or stay in the studio with Internet access. That’s cool too.
Man, you one dude here kinda deny your claim, others like myself, said they didn’t have an issue. Where’s all this denial you speak of?
Maybe a stupid question. Coming from some who only uses MPC Software (no standalone machine). Why is this activation an issue on some of these devices but not in the Software?
You misunderstand - there have also been reports of the desktop software having authentication issues (though not nearly as frequent as the standalone MPC/Force). No clue why, other than most* people’s computers are online whenever they run the MPC Software. (*most, but not all)
I see. I never had plugin related issues but definitely had other stuff. Over the years Software became better and better. I’d say i haven’t even had a crash may be in a year.
I had the issues too, but was an easy fix. And its my own fault.
Maybe it helps others; please follow the steps.
The activation server is sensitive regarding times and is attached when you login. Same with some 2FA windows solutions these days. So this happened with me on the force and mpc one +. So i knew the solution on forehand.
After the above it always works solid.
Enjoy making music
Sure. But like many on here, I’m a programmer, and this makes no sense whatsoever. Akai’s activation servers may rely on high-precision timing and any clock skew will not validate, but we’re talking music plugins not military equiptment. They just need to relax their clock skew and that would solve half their problems.
But for those who say this is not an issue, good luck in the future when Akai turn off their servers. How is your device going to phone home when there’s no endpoint to connect to? You’ve paid for software and they will eventually taketh away. To me, that’s a big FU to their customers/victims.
Again… if you don’t care about this issue, fine. But when Akai turns the lights out, don’t come back to complain because you’ve been warned.
I understand your feelings. But i dont think akai (or the mother company inmusic) will shutdown the servers near the future. I also believe they will provide an offline mode by then, that is if that happens.
That the security is tight, is a choice of the company. Its not that we dont care, but most music products these days have some “calling home” security check. Reason studios, maschine+, etc…
There are products that doesnt have accounts, like polyend products or deluge for example.
Btw, im a programmer too 🫶🏻
I see this sort of fear-mongering often, and yes - it’s a real concern. But there’s also an extremely simple solution should things ever come to that, though I won’t post about it publically. There’s also a likely possibility that should Akai shudder their shop doors and the authentication servers, they could easily issue permanent “forever” licenses for all accounts ahead of said theoretical shut down. Stop worrying and learn to love the bomb.
Where’s all these people that don’t care on this thread?
I never said it didn’t exist. I said I’ve never had it happen on my multiple devices.
And I definitely won’t lose sleep if someones music toy box isn’t working properly. If my Force stopped working I’d probably use my MPC. If my MPC stopped working then I’d probably use one of my Elektrons.
If my software suddenly didn’t work I wouldn’t waste my time coming here to complain, I’d complain to InMusic.
But it’s all been glitch free and awesome, other users may benefit from hearing this.
This is from MPC-Tutor about the Force probably being done for now: https://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=218458#p1886482
"Response from Akai support to one of the members of the Akai Force Users Facebook group. No more units being made at this time, no mk 2 in the works. Force is currently ‘on hold’.
No word regarding future software updates.
Hi Marc,
Thanks for your new question regarding Sweetwater stock! A new ticket has been created for your question. You'll receive a survey related to your previous, now closed, ticket. The message I am sending you now is part of the new, separate ticket.
As mentioned, while it's not officially marked as discontinued, the product is several years old and there are currently no plans to produce more units. This may change; depending on demand. As it stands, there is still plenty of stock in the channel which users can purchase online.
Currently, Force units are not being produced, but this may change. Only retailers who ordered Force units from the last batch have stock right now.
If Sweetwater do not have any stock, they cannot order more in at the moment.
You will need to search for a retailer who ordered stock from the last batch - http://www.akaipro.com/dealers
More Force models may be produced in the future, there is no Force MKII or nothing to surpass the Force model, so please see the production of this unit 'on hold'.
It appears that your question have been answered, for this reason I'm going to put your ticket into soft-close mode, but you can always reply to this email to reopen it, view your whole chat history and reconnect with me for further support on this topic. So please consider this a temporary closure; you are welcome to come back to us at any time.
Kind Regards,

Good while it lasted I hope they make a new Force.
Farewell to The King
The os is very similar to the mpc now so likely will continue to be supported.
