I want to shout out for Airwindows plugins! if you use a computer in your setup, it is very much worth taking a look at. The maker gives them away for free, and you can support him for it on Patreon.
He has a ton of plugins, but ones like fromtape, totape5, interstage, channel7, purestdrive, etc
are awesome to have sitting on all channel and masterbuss. they have only few controls, and add a nice warmth and drive, glue everything together and smooth out peaks.
I just threw out my computer from my setup. I was using it only as an extended mixer, with a lot of routing and processing possibilities. And since I got rid of this, the Airwindows plugin are the only thing I really miss!
So, together with my shout out for this, I wonder if there are any hardware boxes that can do what I need here. A master buss processor that emulates a tape machine, to glue and smooth peaks, without being a compressor. I tried the analog heat, but could not get it to a "set and forget"setting…
