Hi everyone.
I own an AH2 but dont know it inside out cause i haven
t yet gotten 100% familiar
with all the functions.
I use it only as a Saturator till now as i don`t feel i need anything else from it.
That said i usually connected it via Line cables and then remembered „Overbridge“
So i connected it via USB and see it in Ableton as expected.
However i am having two issues i cant quiet figure out As i am on the go in a hotel i am using the USB and can
t use Line in order to compare myself But am not sure if the Sensitivity In-Out behaves a bit differently than when i fed it Line signal from the
Audio Interface….
A) When i go In+Out using Trs cables i understand the gain-chain and i can influence it also with the Audio itrefaces output knobs. With USB however i don
t really fathom how it works technically
Does the AH get an actualy voltage signal via USB or does it „create“ the input signal itself by
conversion or something like that? Cause in my logic at some point there has to be an actual voltage that goes into the saturation circuit which is analog. Or am i seeing it wrong?
B) I was tweaking around and noticed that everything sounded weird and i got a bit too much clipping but a sh…ty sound and no bass. I then realized i somehow must have changed some settings
and the Envelope department was doing funny stuff and all went back to normal. Lesson learned
Is there a way to reliably By-Pass everything but the Saturation in an "easy to check“ way so i don`t have to second guess my self every time i use it in a critical scenario?
I also tried saving a Preset but have the feeling that some parameters of the ENV smme to either Reset or i am doing something wrong
I am still in the phase where i am overwhelmed by the ENV page settings and how to fin out when its Bypassed and when its "almost bypassed but still doing things“. Is for example „Env Depth 0“ meaning that it does nothing?
I am watching the Dave Mech Mastering with the AH video but need to constantly rewind cause my head melts
Any tip would be much appreciated
