Was just watching this one again. Too bad they didn’t get released. It even has the Mono kit insta-reload feature that everyone has always wanted but Elektron never added.

Some of this can be replicated just by mapping a controller with a joystick to the Mono. I’ve done this with my X-Station, and using it on autochannel and going to another track while using the joystick will hold the value until you return to that track and move the joystick again (lots of fun on the BBOX set to retrigger…move the joystick, tap to another channel and back, value holds, so you can actually keep tweaking the controlled parameter but it will hold the joystick’s value until you move it again), as well as a few other things from that video.
The good stuff is what is eluding me tho, like the kit reload and CTRL-AL. I’ve poked around with the kit loading SysEx, but it seems like the trick is whatever they did with the Select button. Any thoughts on what might be up with the programming there? Sadly, it looks like their site is now gone, and I suspect we won’t hear from them again.
wesen’s MNM minicommand firmware had similar features (reload kit)and in general the way that worked was:
when the minicommand is powered on, it queries the MNM via sysex and stores all of the kit / machine data etc in its own internal memory
when the “reload kit” button is pressed then the minicommand just sends all of the kit / machine data etc back to the MNM via sysex
for the CTRL-AL, from memory i think you just need to know what midi channels the monomachine is using (on the minicommand this was done at powerup as per above), then send a midi CC for what ever param you want to CTRL-ALL across all of the midi channels that are being used.
i hope i’m not being repetitive/annoying by posting a link each time something like this comes up (don’t want to become the next kitchen seller )…if so, please guys do let me know, really…
have a look here for something similar to the monojoystick
thats a pretty cool post with the joystick! i didnt know that existed! thanks for that!
Cool, I must have missed that.
that sysex reload idea is neat! i didn’t know you could “get” the sysex in the background. i’m going to try and make something in max…it’s too bad elektron didn’t give the octatrack the ability to work with the machinedrum and monomachine’s sysex.
and yeah with the “ctrl-al” if you look at section b-2 in the monomachine manual the commands to change parameters are all the same just different MIDI channels counting up from the base channel… i’m surprised it works without turboMIDI seems like it’d be a lot of data!
So guys… Had anyone luck to achieve the “Reload Kit” function with a standard midi controller? Anyway Guga’s project is very interesting!
it’s not possible unless your standard midi controller supports scripting / querying of sysex dumps. Closest mainstream “controller” i can think of that could do it would be something like Lemur on an ipad, but you’d need to write the template to do it.
Could be a good starter project for someone out there (i.e. not me! ) to build some Elektron interface libraries for Lemur that could be re-used in various templates, if they were so inclined…
it’ll be back soon… fingers crossed
The SFX-JII looks really cool guga! Does anything similar exist for Lemur or another iPad app? Would love to have randomize and undo/redo features. Just had a look through the Lemur forum and there are templates for all of the Elektrons except the Monomachine!
SFX-JII = I want!!!

Reallly??? =)
Guga is great and a very kind person, one year ago i was going to get one of his nice box, but things didn’t turn in the right directions for some troubles of mine…anyway: Guga, i cross fingers side-by-side with you !
I’ll be there!

thanks sicijk
unfortunately (as i mentioned already, sorry, being repetitive here…) things did slow down and got stuck into getting the new enclosure ready and it’s taking ages just to sort such a simple thing
hopefully, good news will come soon and i’ll make sure you guys know
Has anyone the manual for the monojoystick? Unfortunately, the website of Ruin & Wesen down.
Unfortunately it never was more than a prototype, only the Minicommand was produced. The R&W site has been down for quite some time.
Ok, then i am happy to have one of the prototypes, but it is in very bad condition. Maybe i get it back to work.
