All loops have to be the same length on the Aeros, that’s not so good enough for the best I reckon.

It doesn’t seem to me to be like this. Indeed the screen seems to compose a true sequencer view without limitations, where you can also record in overdub.

no same lenghts

Yea , saw on their site that the loops can be different length. Cool!

I really like the display and quantization is crucial. So it ticks a lot of boxes.

However, for the price I can’t say that it’s better than an OT MK1 for existing OT users.
If you just want simple looping without learning OT, I can certainly see the appeal.
Just different strokes for different folks.

For my needs, it’s a product a few years too late to the party. Would have definitely picked it up in my Pigtronix Infinity days.

It could be updated by now, I just remember looking into it when it came out and that was one of the issues. Loopop just did a new review.

Since it just popped up this afternoon …

That’s not true (see Loopop video above).

that’s what i said just before your post
anyway, it’s too expensive for just a looper. I use the OT and prefer a second OT over any looper :sunglasses:

Of course it’s not an OT, but its also much cheaper than an OT and brings its own tricks to the party. For example: 1.5h stereo recording time on the internal memory is something you won’t get from the OT.

It would pair perfectly with my OT, but sorrily the touchscreen is a no-go for me. When the touch functionality goes bad (and it will over the years) there is no way to operate the menus otherwise.

I can also see the desire for OT users who want this looper to offload their OT looping to use the OT for its myriad other capabilities.

It’s good to see more MIDI quantized loopers in this space. Sadly, most loopers don’t have the sync specs to be usable for electronic music musicians. So in that sense, they have my full support.

Zoom recorder does that easily :balance_scale:

the touchscreen is a no-go for me.

true that!

So Zoom recorders do looping with multiple layers and undos nowadays?

No just recording for a long time! I don’t want to loop long recordings, who does such a thing!? :upside_down_face::wink:

But it’s a looper, that’s the whole point of the device

Me, for example: improvising a song in one go (kind of a live performance) by recording layer upon layer with different instruments isn’t that uncommon and a quite relaxing workflow (jamming with yourself).

I’ve worked with a number of loop-pedal designers over the years, and have been using live-looping extensively in a professional context since the earliest days of looping. I spoke with the developer of the Aeros, a few months back, about various implementations in the current firmware, and pointed out a few critical paradoxes in the workflow. It was a civil conversation, but ultimately, he thumbed his nose at me. Don’t get me wrong, the Aeros does some useful things, and is forward-thinking in its design to some degree. However, what the designer seems to be missing is perspective. As with so many boutique designers, as a musician himself, he has a very specific workflow in mind, and is letting his personal preferences steer the development of the Aeros, to the detriment of having an objective overview.

To be clear, I wasn’t trying to convince him to add features that I would prefer to see myself, but rather, I was just pointing out certain liabilities in the way that he has implemented some of the pedal functions, sync and quantize options, song structure, etc.

The bottom line is, as someone who has used every looper on the market, and even a few that no one else will ever see, I can say without question that the Aeros is not the “World’s Best Looper” as the sales spraff claims. That’s not to say it isn’t useful, or that it won’t work well for your personal workflow or application. I’m just saying…

Cheers!
