Ableton only controlling Track 1

I finally borrowed a buddies fully weighted keyboard and got the midi usb set up working amazingly with ableton. When I have it control the AR though, it only controls Track 1 and then it seems like the sequencing on track one was disabled.

I can use the keyboard in the overbridge panel to play any of the tracks I have selected in the AU, but can’t seem to figure this out. I have some vocal samples I have on track 7 that I’d like to use with the keyboard I have.

So,

  1. How do I change which track Abletons midi send is controlling?
  2. Can you set whether the sequencing is enabled/disabled on a track that you’re controlling externally?

  1. I’ve maybe misunderstood you, but the midi channels are in a drop down, on each of ableton midi tracks.

I see a dropdown box for which midi track to receive from, but not a dropdown box saying which midi track to send to. Maybe I didn’t zoom in. I’ll try again when near my AR.

How are you sending MIDI from Ableton to the AR? Are you using the “External Instrument” Device? That device is what you use to communicate MIDI to external hardware and includes a channel selector.
