my apologies as well as I don’t have a Move yet.
From the AMA today - Might be useful for some.
Refine your captured loops:
This might make some happy or disappointed.
TLDR: They seem to be aware of what people want, but are not offering a roadmap yet.
To your central question if we can share the roadmap: We discussed this idea very actively, but our current conclusion is that we can not outline a defined roadmap with actual features. The reason is quite simple - we don’t want to disappoint you by not delivering something that you feel was promised to you. And we want you to enjoy Move for what it is today, not for what it could be in the future. The reality is that we often don’t know ourselves how complex a topic turns out to be, even with the best upfront investigation. There are complexities that you didn’t expect, or it turns out that a feature that would be great on Move doesn’t fit into Note or Live in the way that makes sense. All of that takes time, and we want to only deliver things that we feel are technically rock-solid and performant and provide the most elegant user experience.
To give you a very rough idea of our plans - this year will mostly see us fixing urgent issues that came up through the release as well as refining a few things we had already started. Actual feature improvements can be expected throughout the next year. Among many topics, I want to acknowledge that we understand the importance of Sampling workflow and USB MIDI improvements. These are themes that we started, but that we could not yet unfold the full story for.
Glad to hear it. From my perspective it sounds like they’re tackling two of the most fundamental areas of weakness.
This AMA was really refreshing.
And it stays on Discord what was discussed, you can read it anytime: Discord
The development team consists of 8 people, the main focus of the Move in the future is subject to these premises on the part of the team regardless of which user feature requests are considered:
“However, we will always keep two types of constraints in mind - the simplicity, immediacy and joyfulness of the user experience (call it “lean and mean” if you like ). We don’t want to compromise on that, so there will never be a lot of menu diving on Move. Secondly, there are hard limits regarding the CPU Performance. We will always prioritize a fluid and snappy UI to make an instrument that feels great and enables flow.”
“It is a question of what we optimize for. Our goal is to optimize Move’s performance to feel fluid and snappy. To provide you with a UI that supports flow. We want to make sure users can do anything imaginable within the constraints of Move (e.g. play 64 samples and automate every single parameter) and never have to be afraid that the device slows down or drops out. We prioritize this over feature breadth. When adding new things in the future, we will always work with those goals in mind - we want Move to feel great and be a device that you can trust. We continuously test any newly added features with an internal benchmarking system, so it’s hard to say what will work and what won’t. We will always keep exploring options for how to further optimize the system.”

I think the’re going down the righ path. I had the device since launch and love it for what it intends to be.
thanks for this… seems clear enough to me.
Sounds good, but how did you make it? I understood that Move doesn’t allow making presets (beyond tweaking those few macros and a filter on existing presets)…
Yeah, saw that - I think they’re wise not committing to a roadmap but it’s enough of an indication that I’ll probably grab one around Christmas or early in the new year.
I think it’s pretty obvious where the launch version falls short for sample-based creation, but it’s also clear enough to that it doesn’t need a huge amount of changes to make it really, really good without in any way creating bloat or compromising the identity of the box.
MIDI and more convenient sampling seem to be at the top of their to-do list. That’s good, because these are exactly the issues that bother me the most.
According to the Ableton guy this will probably not happen this year, but there should be a beta at the beginning of next year.
Very useful! Nice one
hey guys did anyone bring up panning?
You can create your own presets in Live for move, but you need to comply to some limitations:

Nobody! Seriously, it’s not even on the wishlist.
Someone did request an Auto Panner, but no request for panning.
What’s panning? Like for gold?
apparently not
ok back on topic
It’s definitely on the wishlist: Discord
Ah, a specific shortcut request. I was scanning the list (I think they said 240+) for “panning”
Yes you can make Drift presets in Live, set up the macros, and transfer them to the Move. I’m actually addicted. I made a few more tonight which I’ll share
You can make patches and then limit the macros so they only make slight adjustments to the original patch, or you can create synth templates that open up the parameters a bit more to let you do more sound designing on the Move itself, which is what I’ve been trying to do. It’s really great!
Here’s the instructions
That’s cool, I hope they implement same possibility for wavetable.
How is everyone getting sets onto their computer?
I haven’t upgraded to 12 yet so I got the 30 day free trial. Uploaded a set to cloud and it worked. So then I uploaded a bunch of other sets to cloud, and they went through the whole process and showed up in the cloud folder in Live but when I twirl open the folder for them there’s nothing inside.
The one that did work, I tried to drag it into the file browser but that didn’t work. I also tried creating a new folder in the finder and dragging it into the file browser and that didn’t work either in 12. It used to work. Is this just because I’m on the demo?
So then I downloaded sets from move manager and they come as this weird bundle format. I’m always skittish with the Live library because I’ve had weird problems before where files get moved and things break, so I opened them up from the web browser’s download folder then manually did a save and collect all to a new location. But this feels like not a smooth process.
Are you supposed to be able to just drag from the cloud into another place in the Live browser? Are there any better methods that I’m missing?
