How much of this is stock sounds on the Move?

If you have a look at the case there’s room for a power adapter on the side so I think that will cover the extra length

Linked to Abletons arrange page. Chopped up the vocals. Consolidated the vocal chops to an audio loop. Drag and drop to the cloud. Import to the Move. Easy stuff

I’m not “invested” in the sense that I have financial stake and/or inside connections with Ableton, but I’ve put in my 10,000 hours on Live/Push and I know that the general workflow is compatible with how I think about music. And given how much muscle memory we develop in order to use these devices proficiently, I think the comparison with a more traditional instrument is apt – I’m better on guitar than I am on Push, but I’m much better on Push than I am on piano. When I saw Battles on their La Di Da Di tour, Ian T. Williams was using the Push alongside guitar and keyboards so that gives it some real indie-virtuoso cred IMO.
Regarding the enthusiasm, it’s just a question of how people like to work. I bought a mint Octatrack MkI earlier in this summer because it directly addressed most of the things I find frustrating about Push. But I don’t have as much free time as I had in 2013, and I lost my enthusiasm to develop and maintain a new muscle memory even though I love the music other people make with the OT. I managed to sell it for exactly what I paid for it, and Ableton coincidentally started teasing Move while I was on my way to meet the buyer, so it was an easy decision. I also live close to Ableton’s Canadian shipping warehouse, so I had mine in-hand <30 hours after placing the order.
For someone that already has their workflow nailed down with other devices and/or software, the Move isn’t really anything special. But it’s a really smooth, streamlined introduction to the Push workflow for people that find Push too slow or intimidating, and it’s a really nice grab-and-go device for those of us that love Push but don’t want to bring it with us anywhere. YMMV!

I don’t have mine yet, it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. But I was thinking, what if you could hold down the clips you want to play and then press sequencer step one and it would save them to that step. I don’t think the 16 step buttons have any function right now in session mode do they? Then choose the next batch of clips and hit step 2, etc. Each particular scene could play for as long as the longest clip and then automatically move to the scene that’s saved on the next step.
You could hold play and press the first sequencer step to play the song, or press any other sequencer step to jump around to different sections of the song.
The set page could work the same way to create setlists up to 16 songs.

I remember boot times of 30 minutes and longer (Roland Fantom-X with a shit load of samples on the memory card).

Question to those that have Elektron box and Move, can I plug Digibox usb to Move usb, and sequence Move from Digibox? For example can Digitakt 2 sequence Move trough USB?
I used to be a Yamaha a3000v2 sampler guy back in the day, and loaded up the tracks I was working on with floppy disks! I used to have to keep popping back the studio to feed the next floppy, and find other things to do around the house, whilst I was loading it all.

In my experience (and when I look at the millions of Youtube clips) it is not an issue at all to get a 4/8bar loop going, with any device. The big issue is, how to get from this loop into an interesting/creative/compelling song.
Something that would offer easy creation and (manual) chaining of sections, and a way to record mutes/solos/mixer/fx movements in some kind of “meta automation track” would already be super powerful (don’t know if Move offers this?).
Additionally, it would be even cooler if some kind of AI/ML/generative magic could suggest sections and song-structures based on this foundational 4/8-bar loop, with chord transitions, bridges, drops etc. This would be the next-level imho.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work with anything less than 12.1, i.e. you can’t load Move’s Set into Live that’s lower than 12.1 (e.g. your Live needs Drum Sampler).
Live Control Mode should work in Live 11.3, though
I just logged in to ableton forum and found another user with kind of the same problems.
This is a first time for me regarding faulty hardware, and i have to many units in my possesion
Sadly support is giving me this answer.
" Please note, we are experiencing a very high number of support requests at the moment so likely won’t be able to get back to you immediately."
I had a hard time finding anybody with hardware problems regarding this unit and they are sold out.

I’ll be using it for fast breaks and fat bass so gonna be diving into chopping up samples soon. The old-skool SP-404 method of copying and pasting a pad and changing the start/end points is right up my street but give the Move a more robust slicing mechanic, as well as perfect loop sampling/resampling, and this thing will get to the next level!

Ehm, so went over the manual multiple times and there’s no way to change note length for individual notes in a chord on a step, correct?
Also can someone point me to the move feature request discord channel? I joined the ableton one and don’t see anything Move specific there…
