I have a few questions about Move that I can’t find info for, hoping some of you Nauts might know.
1.) Is it possible to apply input effects. Specifically, if I run my ST’s audio into the Move can I apply a compressor etc. in real-time?
2.) Do individual samples on the Move have filters plus two additional insert effects?
3.) How is sample folder organization? Is it possible to import user folders like “kick” and “hi hats” and then create your own racks directly on the device or do you need to use software?
In short #1 is a hard no, each pad ina drum rack has its own filter, but the insert effect is for the entire rack and then there’s a playback effect per rack like the time stretch etc…
Sample management is as organised as you make it, all uploaded via move manager which is web based tool hosted on the the device itself, and yea you can build rack presets and save them, but if you start deleting or moving stuff around it may have undesirable effects
quick question for those with a move and an android phone or tablet. Was wondering can you type c to c and sample back and forth. This is is how it should work, but I remember doing this via sp404 mk2 and it never worked properly. Guessing maybe because the Move has a inbuilt battery it may work but was wondering in the meantime while my Move comes.
My situation is to sample from the phone and then send to koala to chop up and resample so I know I have a perfect loop that is set to X number of bars.
My Android also can’t establish an audio connection with the Move. According to someone on Discord,
I suspect it’s because the Move appears as both an audio device and an “Ethernet over USB” network device, and I think Android might only support one at a time.
Just received the Move and so far impressed, too early to tell if a keeper or not. But so far I like it. One thing which is really getting me confused and I can’t get working.
Trying to get the Ipad to send midi to the Move, for example Scaler. I can’t even get any midi from any synths to the Move. Now I’m in midi and I have MIDI IN and sync off.
I have tried USB port to type c, different ones I have and several type c to type to Ipad. Having no luck getting MIDI from Ipad which is a huge bummer.
How do have the iPad hooked up to move? The haven’t tried direct via one cable but midi is only supported on the usb a port of move afaik, I’ve got it working bi directionally via a usb midi interface plugged into move and a WIDI adapter…
Both the iPad and Move are USB hosts, so they cannot be directly connected. To connect them easily, using Bluetooth MIDI like WIDI Bud is a convenient option.
Yeah @Elijah is right, direct connect is a no go, so you’ll need so a usb midi interface or a Bluetooth midi adapter, nektar widiflex usb or cme WIDI bud is the lowest friction option if all you are doing is hooking up the iPad, if you want a more elaborate setup I’m using the cme u6midi pro with a Bluetooth dongle in one of the ports and a launch key into one of the others, the upside of this is being able to route midi from the keyboard to move and also to the iPad with all the disconnecting etc if you only want to use one or the other…
sorry if it was discussed earlier here but my search kung-fu fails.
Does Move come with power supply cable that connects “base”(round thingy) to socket ?
Bought second hand Move and it is not in the box.
thanks!
Thank you for posting this. Bit of lifesaver really.
So I like to use Ableton Link with the Move and Ableton Live 12 to keep everything in sync. However I was finding that the Move and Live would lose Link connectivity when connected via WiFi. Then I read that you can run link over USB-C. But as soon as I plugged the USB-C in to the computer I got quite a lot of noise.
Fortunately I read the post you linked to and bought one of the recommended and tested ground loop isolators mentioned in the Ableton document.
This is the one I went for… Amazon.co.uk For just under 9 quid I wasn’t expecting it to work that well, but it does. It works really well
