I am hoping with the launch Ableton Move may push Elektron to releases an update by taking some features from the Digitakt 2 and adding them to the Digitakt and the Digitone,
i dont get this logic, sorry
That may very well be true, but my sense is the digitakt 1 is way down the priority list for such an update. You could be waiting a while and frankly it may never happen at all.
What exactly would you like to see carry over?
I think the Digitakt MK1 is officially discontinued now, so you aren’t likely to get updates for that particular device.
It’s definitely in the legacy section but I’m not sure how much that tells us … aren’t there other legacy products that still get firmware updates ?
I’m selling my Digitakt and getting a Move so I don’t have to speculate on things like this
As I said, I am hoping, if not I may sell my digitakt and buy something else, maybe the Move,
My line of thinking is that it doesn’t really matter. Even with no updates digitakt 1 is a great device. If you prefer a 4 track version of ableton’s workflow to an elektron workflow and appreciate a more couchable device then maybe move is better for you, but if I had to choose one or the other, I’d take DT1 all day.
I’m not sure updates with or without priority should influence the decision, it’s not as if move isn’t without it’s own limitations, they just happen to lay very far off the line from each other in what one lacks the other one has some more of. Both, however, seem to have a little bit of a lackluster user experience for sample dissection.
Digitakt, move on.
I like the DT, but that’s far from my favorite Elektron.
What I have seen so far from the Move has not been really good on the display side.
I mean, which rotary encoder do what.
Ok, when you turn them it show what it does.
But the UI feedback from the display in video I have seen make the device not that easy to follow.
I mean we are really far from a Push1 display ( let alone push 2/3).
Move might be a great device, but today, I’m convinced by the DT ( and I talk about DT1 ), not that much about the Move.
And I’m sure the Move can do monster things, but does not look to be polished at all, more like a first shot and wait and see.
…dt 2 and st will still see firmware updates…
but even for dtone i don’t have any hi hopes anymore, when it comes to further firmware updates…
and no matter what, toneverk will be served first, i’d say…
while i don’t see any point in comparing move and elektron devices…groovebox vibes are not like groovebox vibes, just a little bit to whiggle it, but the whole tactile and ui concepts are soooo different planets, elektron and ableton…nah…end of the day, move will only suit truu ableton users for real…
move seems like a fantastic sketch machine for on the go…but if u don’t use a full fledged ableton live program to nail it finally, it remains just a nice toy for another meanwhile…
Digitakt 1 or 2 all the way
Move will be forgotten very soon
this is also my take on it
Digitakt start from a pure hardware concept with a good software integration
Move starts from a software concept to hardware that does a bit of everything, limited groovebox, controller, sound card which will attract a lot of people that use a computer mainly for music making.
If they update the step sequencer to 128 steps, then I would hold on to the Digitakt, I prefer this for my work flow, I know something similar can be achieved by 1/2, or pattern chain.
I don’t really see what a Digitakt and a Move have to do with one another.
The encoders are touch, when you touch them the screen switches to them, no need for turning.
Not as good as having the mapping right away , but waaaay better then a ton of other synths where you have to change the value to see which it was.
(It’s the same as with push2/3 with the encoders)
The display actually works surprisingly well.
It’s also a very intuitive device so not much to remember really.
The experience is at least for me quite different than what can be seen in a video
the digitakt is god, the move is a midi controller
Absolutely nothing to do with each other, but you can guarantee that YouTubers will be making comparisons videos,
For a first time buyer on a budget it means a lot,
Truth being told, if one waits for several months, you could probably pick up a Move pretty cheap and get the best of both worlds
Can the Digitakt do 4/4?
Currently Ableton controller. No midi out and the bare ones midi implementation to me means it currently is not a midi controller
