@crevice said āposted on April Foolsā so I guess so?
Canāt seem to find anything on fccid.io about Ableton. Damn! These germans are so secretive
well I prefer if they are two separate things, not because of any particular annoyance towards one of the two companies but because in this way we would have two new pieces of technology at our disposal ā damn thirst for new devices!!
I agree - I keep a close eye on my local Facebook marketplace in a city of 9 million and thereās one Push 3 for sale, which has been there for months vs dozens of Push 2s. So either they sold loads and everyone loves them or theyāve sold very few.
Hopefully this device is a reimagining of the Push because, personally, I think the 3 was very misjudged, mainly because keeping the same form factor as the 2 was a mistake. Why does a midi controller for my laptop need to be twice the size and weight of the thing doing all the actual work? It was so horrendous to use with a laptop, itās so big that itās a huge barrier. The screen is far too small and really unergonomically positioned. The sequencing approach and workflow is very dated. And far too expensive as well.
I hope itās not a mixer/fader focused device - thereās already many things on the market that do exactly this perfectly well and I donāt know why anyone wouldnāt just buy one from eg Akai. Who, incidentally, binned off their version of that, which I doubt theyād have done if it was selling well.
I really do hope itās a circuit sized push - keep (mostly) the same functionality, still pads (smaller and nowhere near as many) for playing and sequencing and knobs. Agnostic on a screen - simply no point if itās just the push screen again, why wouldnāt I just look up at my laptop screen? Would need to be something thatās actually worth using or Iād rather save the space.
In fact, if it was literally a circuit clone that sequenced directly into Ableton rather than on the device but was the same in every other way, Iād buy that in a heartbeat.
If wishes were horsesā¦
Edit: or, as suggested below, a super portable M8-sized standalone device that can transfer projects to Live proper would be awesome.
Excited to see what comes.
āMoveā for faders feels a bit off a misnomer to me. If anything, that should be āpushā!
Doubt itāll be as interesting as this but I could see something that sat between Push/Note and competed with the Tracker mini/M8 sort of devices. I like Note but touchscreens are a problem.
If it wasnāt for having its own tab on the website, Iād have said this still prob just end up being some live party event to promote Push/12.1/Note more but seems like itāll at least be something
To me āmoveā sounds like a gyroscope based controller device.
Yes, thatās what Iām afraid of
Does the poster or the t-shirt mean anything to anyone?
I donāt think theyāre random.
Perhaps thereās some clue there?
I suggested a good few years ago on an Ableton questionnaire what I would like to see.
Ableton twist. 64 encoders for deeper VST control to sit alongside push.
Think this is similar but move implies faders, in my head at least (like Console 1), but a push, move and twist trio would be great. Something similar to the SSL controllers but with deeper integration in Live.
Baffled that people are interpreting āmoveā to refer to faders lol. Cmon ppl.
Itās just a Judas Priest t-shirt. The clue is Oct 8th.
???
Hopefully, itās like Push 3SA Lite version limited to 8 channels, Granulator / Simpler / Analog / Operator or Clip per channel, some basic effects per channel, send and master effects.
Like a Digitakt but more powerful and āclip orientedā device with polyphony, replaceable ssd drive, adat out, all other benefits.
Would be awesome.
I find the thoughts here regarding the verbs used for the product names very interesting.
A Push 3 but with focus on controls (Move) instead of the button grid. The current layout kinda forces the clip based workflow. But what if one prefers to use a hardware sequencer and maybe donāt use stems at all? The button matrix would be a waste of space.
Finally!)
Move money from your bank account to theirs
This logic doesnāt make sense to me.
