How does this compare to the Novation rhythm which can be picked up for nearly half the price
As already mentioned above, there are no audio tracks - so no.
The Sonicstate video is great; it digs into the main functions of Move.
It looks superb to me.
Ordered.
No
Not sure what you mean by ālike Hapaxā, but you can currently use 1 (only) track to output MIDI.
Also, currently itās either MIDI in or MIDI out.
Especially when he said āIt could be nice addition to my live setā, āit was really funā and āI canāt wait to use it on stageā
I donāt know this device, but āRhythmā sort of implies it has no synths. Move has Drift and Wavetable.
For Videogames it would mean that the manufacturer knows that somethings is wrong with the product, but still needs to release it. AAAAND not allowing Day One Reviews could be a measurement to Extend the time until people discover the errors.
but then again: this is not the video game industry
So itās one-to-one with Note, but Iām keen to know how well will it function as a surface controller for Live also? I donāt quite like my SSL UF-1. Hope those endless encoders can function as device encoders for Live too.
Fair point.
But Ableton are not known for releasing half-baked products, are they ?
Itās closer to a Circuit Tracks than a Circuit Rhythm. Circuit Tracks has 1x drum track, 2x synth tracks (3 total) and the ability to add 2 more external devices. The Rhythm is 8x mono samples with no polyphony. So itās like a Circuit Tracks but with 4 tracks, and a bundled basic Ableton controller as well.
This sits somewhere between the two. Looks like you will need to use drum racks to play samples chromatically, and to adjust start and end points per pad. Sortof a manual process in that sense unless they decide to add the ability to slice to Drum Rack within the device at some point.
Just some early thoughts on that.
Itās pretty good at controlling Live. The encoders of course are used to access device params.
I suppose itās closer to the circuit tracks but that does not sample it only can import samples
it has a few nifty features, like the capture of midi, and the capture of FX automation⦠thatās cool, lazy chop is cool, but the guy with the Earth Wind and Fire tee on the sonic state clip said he would show how to get more samples on the other half of the pad set up but he didnāt do itā¦
and they ran through the FX without listening to anything but saturation and compression⦠if anybody reading this is about to make a video please go through all of the master fx and demo the quality of them⦠are they on par with the sp-404 or what?
and also they ran through the performance fx without really letting you hear them?
Yeah, 4 minutes stereo per pad, 16 pads per track, 4 tracks. And from what Iāve seen so far immidiate change of sets with no loading time.
He mentioned āa sectionā, not additional samples. So I think it was meant to be 16 pitches stuff
Iām watching videos now, hoping we can Warp an audio recording in the drum rack so it timestretches.
They are the same as in Ableton Live.
From the manual :
- Channel EQ ā a basic equalizer.
- Chorus-Ensemble ā a chorus effect with Chorus, Ensemble, and Vibrato modes.
- Delay ā a delay effect with time and filter modulation.
- Dynamics ā a combined compressor and EQ effect.
- Phaser-Flanger ā a phaser effect with Doubler, Flanger, and Phaser modes.
- Redux ā a bit crusher with jitter and filter modulation.
- Reverb ā an algorithmic reverb that simulates how sounds echo in an acoustic space.
- Saturator ā a waveshaping effect with several shaper curves and color modulation.
Purchased! As a Logic user primarily, Note gave me a great insight into how the basics work. Having a sketch pad in hardware form is my dream and think it will be a very productive device for me.
It uses the new Drum Sampler so stretch is one of the FXs. (lofi, though)
