Ableton midi out of USB laptop port

Hi, Ableton question. Does anyone know if i can send midiout over a USB cable using just my Macbook and a USB cable. If so how? If not, do you know why?

I want to send midi from Ableton to an external device with USB midi in, without using an interface or midi cables.

I know nothing about Macs, but in general, if you plug a USB MIDI device into your computer, it should be selectable inside of Live. If Live isn’t seeing it, maybe it requires drivers to be installed?
