Ableton midi note question

Hey elektronauts–I’m trying to find a solution here so I can integrate my Five12 sequencer with Ableton properly. Hoping maybe someone has maybe had this issue and found a solution.

I want to use the Five12 to trigger my drum channels without using a drum rack since my drums are based on operator. The issue I’m running into is the five12 doesn’t have seperate midi channels for each note, the notes all exist on the same midi channel. The other channels/parts are being used by other tasks for my modular, so it needs to be confined to 1 channel/part on the Five12.

The workaround I’m looking for is to see if there’s a way to force each channel to only respond to the specific note Five12 sends for each drum channel I want to trigger?

I’m wondering if there’s maybe a M4L device out there that you can custom set which note the channel listens for and will only trigger the drum if it hears that note? That’s the only way I can think of that it will work otherwise it would be triggered by every note the Five12 sends on that channel… I know it’s super specific but if anyone has any ideas, I’m all ears, would love to get this to work without having to use drum rack & samples. If I must use a drum rack and there’s no workaround, then so be it, ha.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure why you can’t just add the operators to drum racks pads, but anyway - you can use a Note device on each track set to receive just the notes you need (set its range). Or you can group each operator into a rack and set its chain to receive on a single note (via the rack’s KEY zone)

what they said, just put your Operators into a drum rack surely?

Done. Thank you for that suggestion on putting that in drum rack. Im a bit of a novice with midi implementation in ableton as I have mostly only ever used it for mixing so I had no idea I could do that
