Thomann has that live suite education version for $279. My kid is 18 and in high school, wonder if that counts…not sure if it has to be a university? I’d buy that right now if I knew It would work that way.
I produce majority of my tracks using MPC Software and then bounce them to audio by exporting as Ableton Live sets. Usually I just open up a new Live session and drag the audio manually and group them etc.
Here is the problem I am having. When I export as Ableton Live set from MPC Software, I can see the audio tracks are there in Session View (notice the audio in the screenshot). But if I go to Arrangement View, I can’t see them and of course no audio plays (second screenshot).
Anyone has an idea how to “fix” this? I use Ableton like a caveman just to do final mix, automation and mastering mostly as you can tell…
yes. lot’s of rad stuff there. generously shared by the maker.
In the Session View, select the clips you want to arrange, drag them with the mouse, press the Tab key, and drop them in the desired location.
Thanks! solved my issue!
Rad controller app for the iPhone, works as a MIDI control surface. It’s a lot like Ableton Note, only this connects to Live itself.
Free to try (15 min at a time), then around 7 currency units to buy.
On the Mac it works via Wi-Fi or USB. on Windows, only Wi-Fi.
I did some Windows beta testing for TAP. It’s a great app for controlling Ableton Live, lots of features.
Cool! Thanks for posting! Is it available for iPad too?
I think it’s iPhone only, although I’m sure it’ll run in blown-up mode on the iPad.
I asked Simon(the developer) if TAP will be available for iPad too. His answer : ‘one day…’
I think that if there is enough interest in TAP there will be a iPad version in the (near) future. I am convinced that TAP would be great on a iPad fullscreen.
Is there a tool (Max For Live) that would study your midi and line it up to the right global scale, or make suggestions so you could do it?
The Scale device?
No.
There’s an option to select MIDI notes and use ‘Fit to Scale’, is it something you were looking for?
The little icon third from the left on the top right of the scale tool does exactly that. So I’d say Scale is a good suggestion here
The concept would be the opposite. You feed your midi file like a melody and the tool suggests the scale and other things, like chord progressions.
So you would drop a midi file, then right click “fit project to midi file scale”. Ultimately you would drop an audio file and have the same option.
That was what I had in mind.
Something similar to this?
Nice find
Latest beta is a session killer. Be wary. I knew these betas would screw me in the end. It rescans every plugin and will have trouble finding a lot of your plugins. So if they were loaded in a session, kiss them goodbye - you will have to reload everything and start from scratch. I am seeing reports of this in different subreddits and message boards and it happened to me as well.
