Ableton Live 12

Thanks for chiming. Re: headroom. The term eluded me, but it’s the hardware that I’ve recorded.

Re: the clip being cut off.

I’m aware how this tends to happen, and to address this as the potential issue, I’ve replayed certain bars where I first heard the click / pop, and I didn’t observe any anomalies.

As soon as I detected jitter, I cut the kick recording for two steps that visually line up on the grid, then pasted the kick drum sequence.

Will keep digging. Was just seeing if it was more than either the recording or something else (like sample rate).

Re: sample rate.

I’ll check when I’m at the lab. But would the artifacts be intermittent if it turns out to be the case?

The way you described it sounded like they appear in pretty much same places, intermittent or not that wouldn’t sound like a buffer issue to me personally. Of course, I might be wrong. But to me the difference is huge even in the sound itself. Phase issue sounds like a super short “tsap”, buffer problems are ugly and crackly.

It’s why I ruled this out.

I had issues with a dual monitor setup, both running at 1920x1080.
Flickering & uncentered display after a few hours in Ableton.

This fixed it: Ableton Settings>Display & Input>Enable GPU Renderer: Off, Enable HiDPI Mode: Off.

Also Windows 11 System>Display>Graphics>Advanced graphics settings>Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: Off. Reboot.

Apparently enabling hardware GPU rendering is not good for DAWs, something to do with GPU lag/latency. Also my monitors are only 1080p, so not HiDPI.
