Might be wrong, but I think Ableton has dropped the price of Live Standard slightly? Seems to have dropped here in the UK from 319 to 259 unless my mind is playing tricks. Looks to me like Intro & Suite are the same price as before. May be of interest to some.
Interesting tip I came across today when looking into Color Limiter. I have heard of folks using it in its standard setting as a limiter in place of the standard Limiter. I know the standard one has a tendency to break up so this is quite an interesting device. But I have also seen someone use it in a chain, purely to get a one-knob tilt-shift at the start of a chain.
if you assign the built in LFO to master tempo you can see the tempo going crazy but when you hit play the tempo doesnât change at all, and tempo box is greyed out. is there a trick to link project tempo to a free LFO that works in session view?
Pretty cool to consider the new Korg Keystage polyphonic-aftertouch controller keyboard for use with Ableton Live. They have an official Ableton Live integration built in.
I just start using Ableton and I have a newbie question:
Whenever i want to slice a sample to a drumrack, if I drag a sample it automatically opens Sampler. Is there anyway that the sampler by default would be Simpler and not Sampler?
Didnât know that, very useful, thanks!
Rapide, simple et efficace
Thanks!
Iâm finally enjoying my time inside the Ableton window but I have one little thing I canât get past. Am I being dense, is there a quick, intuitive way to have track mutes work like Elektron boxes (where they mute the sequencer) and not abrupt audio mutes that suddenly kill the sound? I want not only the effect tails to play but more importantly like a long decay on a bass drum or cymbal to play out naturally. With effects I guess I could set up effect sends that go to another place outside the track but that is less than half my concern.
I wish mute behavior could just be a toggle on the preferences page
From my experience with the OT, the sound actually cuts abruptly when you mute a track.
Hard to figure out how a simple mute could change the envelope of the sound.
Great question, Iâm surprised that thereâs no native way (as far as I know) to do this in session mode. If you have Suite, maybe you could use a âmidi note chance effectâ max for live device such as this and map a midi control to toggle between 100% and 0% chance?
Not as easy as having a mute button you can click on on the track in the mixer I know, but I donât think what you describe is possible otherwise.
@beefpoweredcars
I made a simple m4l midi mute that I use all the time, please remind me to post it here when I have access to it.
EDIT : isnât it simply possible with a MIDI rack with only one empty chain, and use its mute button ??
EDIT : Yep this MIDI rack idea just works !
ANyway hereâs the device as well. CF_Midi_Mute.amxd (8.1 KB)
EDIT AGAIN : Alternatively you can use another MIDI track with no FX nor instruments and send/Mute MIDI from there.
OT mutes the Audio like you say. DT etc mutes the sequencer instead so that long notes for example will not be cut off
Ah, nice solution!
I wasnât able to get your workaround to work for an 808 Core Kit track. Maybe it only works for strictly MIDI tracks and not the built in Ableton instruments? Your max4live device worked like a charm and does exactly what I want accept for it kills the sustain of the current note instead of letting it play out (nitpick) and I have to navigate inside of the instrument parameters to mute the track and not conveniently from the mixer. I wish your device could replace the actual mute button.
what if u click the clip to select it then press 0 to disable the clip
You can change the clip play mode to toggle, which kinda does what you want I think? Toggle the clip, it stops at the end of the clip, toggle it again, it starts on the next play quantize division.
Anyone knows if is there a max4live device or something to collect several incoming single (mono) notes, and send them out as a (poly) chord later?
Basically, I wan to turn horizontal melodies into vertical harmonies.
Itâs easier to take the chords and break them down, if possible
