A new beta of Ableton 11.2 just dropped, and it supports AUv3.
All those neat iOS effects apps that run on your Mac now run in Ableton. It works with some Eventide apps, Drambo, Loopy Pro, Moog Model D (watch your CPU!), and more.

This really is awesome news, looking forward to finally upgrading from 10
Wow that’s cool - guess will make getting your iPad stuff into a DAW for finishing very easy
Apologies to giku/stellare_modular for this pic. as have purloined image but unfortunately am currently hospitalised as head just exploded:
Hehe - guess routing multiple Drambo outputs to a channel each in Live will now be a breeze
Not yet, or not with MIDI at least. Ableton doesn’t see it at all. Audio is fine though.
Also:
The release also features two updates for Mac users. Those running macOS can save precious creative time by setting Live’s audio preferences to follow the system sound settings. Plus, 11.2 offers AUv3 support, making more plug-ins available to music makers using Macs with M1 chips.
This is fantastic. It really does take away one really annoying task.
now I have a compelling argument to upgrade… (both live and my Mac.)
or when it’s out of beta, anyway.
This is awesome news - especially as my M1 Max should be arriving tomorrow
So you can get multi channels of Drambo into seperate Ableton channels already?? Cool - look forward to the final build release of Live
I haven’t tried with multi-out audio yet. Only struggled with MIDI.
How is this setup working for people now we’re heading towards Live 12?
I recently did some research on iPad, and decided to hold off getting one. But one or two of the plugins seemed fun, and I heard that they are accessible on desktop. The majority of what I saw that looked interesting was audio effects, which from what I’m hearing here seems to work OK. Is MIDI still tricky even for individual instruments, or has that been ironed out at all?
Interested to hear since you can’t usually trial stuff off the app store.
Which AUv3 apps work on Mac?
How do you install them?
Thanks
When you’re in the App Store or on the site by the plugin maker, they will sometimes say whether it does or doesn’t work on MacOS. Needs a bit of research first but usually you can find out in advance.
Thanks, I think sunriser works
