A4 screen slowish fade/ghosting compared to AR

I just picked up a used (but excellent condition) A4 to pair with my AR and the combo is stupid awesome!! However, the screens seem to behave a little different and I just want to make sure it’s normal.
Basically, the AR screen refreshes very quick with no “ghosting” that I can really see. The A4 has more of a fade out/in ghosting thing going on. Is this normal?

So no one has this issue?

Haven’t noticed any difference between these two… I’m afaird it’s not normal!

I literally just noticed it doesn’t happen when I switch between the Perf to LFO pages, but it does happen when I switch between Func + Kit to Func + Global pages.

Due to that, I would guess it’s not the LCD screen. Hopefully I’m not wrong as I’d hate to send this wicked beast back.

Thank you for the reply Sai

There’s a test mode and iirc the first two trigs buttons are for testing the white/black of the LCD screen … i’d have a look at toggling between those to see if there’s a screen memory effect on one - i’d also try swapping the PSUs around, they should both be identical … support will give you better advice if you still see an effect

Thanks, Ill check that out tonight!

When I installed end cheeks on my A4 the screw on the lower right side pushed against the board causing the same exact issue. Part of the screen kept feeling sluggish and out of contrast, I took it apart, dusted it, carefully put it back together and weird enough it did the trick, haven’t had the issue since. I no longer use end cheeks on it.

Yesterday I finally cracked the lid off the A4 and looked for any signs of stress on the LCD but saw nothing. I was able to give it a proper cleaning though (gunk on the sides of the buttons) and now it sparkles! After a few days of steady use, I barely notice the slowish fading between menus so Im just gonna deal with it (not thats its really bad anyway). I was mainly concerned due to it being a “used” purchase but I’m not worried anymore.

I was however quite surprised at how simple the guts are in terms of wires and connectors. Pretty amazing they made such a huge sounding, very complex synth out of two PCBs and two connectors.

Thanks for the help folks.

I totally forgot about “test mode.” Ill give that a try too
