A4 not syncing to midi clock

Hi after ages of collecting dust I decided to give the A4 another go. Unfortunately I can’t get it sync to midiclock. In global setti gs everything is set to sync to midiclock. I remember that tvere was one thing I had to change for it to work but I really cant remember what it was.
Sorry for asking the obvious here.

Just a quick suggestion: have you checked if the A4 are set to the right midi input (i.e. DIN or USB)?

I am at work right now but I think it is set to accept both.
Do I have to disable overbridge for that?

Um, sorry, that I don’t know (never used Overbridge) - someone with more knowledge probably need to chime in here…

which device is sending the midiclock?
If itˋs over USB you have to activate MIDI USB in Global/System.
Otherwise itˋs just MidiConfig/Sync/ClockReceive.

Midiclock and midi data is sent by a toraiz squid over midi into an esi 8 channel midi interface and spread towards other synths (each havin its own port). The a4 doesnt start when sending midi through live as well as when spreading tve signal in the interface and using it without a computer.
I had it running yesterday but I cant remember what I changed. I remember having this problem 5 years ago when syncing a4 and rytm to an octatrack and there was just one setting (not in the sync menu) to make it work. Gonna keep testing when I am home.

got it, i think it was not set to usb & midi.
still a nightmare. not an elektron problem but it seems impossible to sync daw and squid to midi clock. when recording the timing is everything but stable. i would just record and set the tempo in live but then i wont be able to play from live and add stuff sequenced by the squid. nightmare…
