I just got an A4mkII used and noticed some weird behavior with the Fine Tune control on both Oscillator pages:
If I change TUN to the minimum or maximum value, the FIN value will automatically jump to it’s max/min value as well. (See in the image I attached, I did not touch the FIN control at all, yet it jumped to the same position as TUN).
If I keep turning the FIN control in either direction, it will loop back around infinitely. For example, if I turn it to the Max value and keep turning to the right, it will jump down to the minimum/negative value and keep turning up until it reaches positive.
None of the other parameters work this way so seems super strange to me. Is this normal? Thanks for any help
I had assumed it was a clever feature that I hadn’t worked out properly yet. Now I realise it’s just “wrong” and I can get on with finding it annoying without worrying I just didn’t get it.
On my Analog Keys I can reset the FIN while keeping coarse at +63. Also, if you hold FUNC while changing coarse back it will also change FIN
And yeah, I feel like they were trying to be clever but a Major third (+63 course +63 FIN) above isn’t necessarily any more useful than a Minor third (+63 course 0 FIN)
I should have mentioned that I meant getting Fine shifted quickly with Func but afaicr that would reset pitch coarse. I might need to refresh my understanding … iirc the same annoyance occurs when push-turning to accelerate coarse … although the way this accelerated was changed from MK1 to MK2
The MK1 was easier to jump in octaves iirc, but could overshoot the Fine if you went too far either way … it’s good that fine rolls around and takes coarse with it, I wish coarse tuning would not affect fine at all
