I have the chance to grab an A4 Mk1, now that Elektron added midi sequencing capabilities to it from last November. I know that you use the 4 tracks and FX and CV tracks for midi seq.
I just want to know if the midi sequencing if just the same as when working in a normal track, ie:
Note, note length, velocity etc.
Can anyone put some screen grabs up of the A4 Mk1 in midi seq mode, thanks. There’s nothing about midi seq’n in the november 2019 manual.
It’s using the same existing track parameters - the only midi seq ‘mode’ is a single hidden toggle box to merely enable MIDI transmission of said note(s)/vel/len data
MIDI can theoretically be four notes per track although the internal synth voices obviously won’t support that - the MIDI is a crude/minimal but functional add on, it’s best used to maybe mirror a track or saved for a free track - no arp - all the constraints/observations are well discussed on the release news thread and topics from that time

Ah! i must have missed that small paragraph of text. It does what i am looking for. Seing as it can do 4 notes per track, i’m only looking to do monophonic lines, not polyphonic ones.
Was going to get a MkII A4, but i had one before and didn’t like it tbh. The MkI is more compact and will sit nicely next to my MD-UW+

So the sequencer can send midi from the midi output but can the sequencer send midi via USB, to Live as an e.g.?
I want to write patterns of notes then record them into Live to edit them, any way to do this?
Yes.
Just set OUTPUT TO to either “USB” or “MIDI+USB” in the GLOBAL > MIDI CONFIG > PORT CONFIG menu.
