A4 & Hydrophone

Hi friends !

This afternoon was recorded with JRF Hydrophones the Parisian rain and my gutter resonance.
It’s my first try and something I wanted to do since a moment buy flows weren’t before enough so after waiting two weeks for a nice rain to come I stoled it’s sound in my TascamDR40.

I hope you will enjoy and find inspiration or ideas to record natural or urban sounds because life has so many things to give to us.

Big Up to you !

nice one. rain already contains a lot of structure… i like that its “pure” without additional rhythm beside the delay fx… how did you process the fieldrcordings? did you played the recordings from the tascam in the ext ins of the a4?

Dear ! I’m pleased to read your opinion and taste.
Rain has a lot of things to say, Here fx’s sometimes support what she said, sometimes no (regret a bit on low sounds of the flow). Anyway I’m since not a long time really fan of natural and dry captured sounds… Here I like too the purity and simplicity…

To answer you: I didnt created this in one shot
1- Recording,
2- Audacity peak reduction (too metallic peak on the gutter when water grade wasn’t quite tall)
3 Audacity amplifying (will maybe try do this after FXing next time)
4 Ableton Overbridge sending dry and recording wet the while tweaking a lil bit A4 parameters !

A preamp or recorder with better preamp will be my next gear I think to be more efficient than DR40, but I think with a low record level on DR 40 I could send it live thru the A4 and maybe then if it not enough amplify in audacity…
BUT ! the DR40 is noisy, I have sometimes noise, and there is a lot of thread on internet about the headset output, which has more noise than the recorded file.

You know what… I will try very soon to one shot a little weather jam  I hope rain will fall tomorrow

Whishing you good experiences I tell you see ya !!
