I only really want them to fix bugs to be honest, and thats the bare minimum we deserve as their customers. More features would be great but I never count on that to justify owning the Analog Four.

It’s been over a year since the last update.
The community has plenty of ideas for how to take the A4 further.
A dedicated chord mode for both keyboard and sequencer would be very welcome. The scale menu could also be expanded: not just major and minor, but modes, pentatonic, chromatic, etc., and ideally a custom scale slot. Scale application should be non-destructive, meaning it can be toggled without rewriting sequence notes, and scale settings should be storable per pattern. Most other Elektron instruments already have chord and scale features, and the A4’s polyphonic nature makes this an obvious fit.
Filter enhancements are another area where the A4 could improve. Extra filter shapes such as bandpass variants and multimode filters with adjustable slopes would expand the sound palette. as well as Additionally “frequency shape” modulation destinations, would provide deeper control. Filter 1 in particular feels more limited than Filter 2, so balancing them would make both filters equally useful.
The noise generator is also quite restricted. White noise needs better control options, since it currently feels limited compared to the rest of the synth engine.
LED dimming is a widely requested feature. It would be nice to have an adjustable LED brightness option on the A4.
Per-track mutes are another highly requested feature. Currently, mute states are global and can feel restrictive in live performance or complex arrangements. Having mute states stored per pattern, or at least giving the option to choose between global and per-pattern mute behavior, would provide far more flexibility. For example, one pattern could be saved with just the bass and drums muted for a breakdown, while another pattern could bring them back automatically without requiring manual unmuting during performance. This would make transitions smoother and give performers greater freedom to structure songs dynamically.

Would love to be able to adjust the brightness on MkII to bring it in line with Octatrack, feels weird always having one super bright while all the others can be adjusted.

Oh, this one is an evergreen classic. AR MKII has it for some time, so why this cant be implemented on A4? Life is too short, Elektron!
The fact that these top of the line machines are still sold for that kind of money, the support should be also top of the line, regardless their age or what not. Cant support it, say it or reduce the pricing. Geez

It’s so fucking frustrating not being able to make proper Bass lines on the A4. And yes, I’ve been trying the workarounds for too many years, which rarely ever achieve what a simple fucking retrig function would. Time to throw away my 3rd A4.

I know the arp isnt retrig, but it can go a long way to achieving similar results. I’m sure you would’ve already tried it.
Wish the arp was p-lockable and/or available as an envelope/lfo destination for this stuff.

Just really silly that a bass synth with a sequencer can’t be sequenced to play the way a real bass guitar is played.

At least we deserve to get retrigs (as in AR) or Arp P-Locks. It’s really the bare minimum and the (not very) modern standard of all sequencers in the most of synthesizers… not mentioning groove boxes, it’s the basic feature.
Not a lot of real bugs left IMHO.

It’s a long shot, but:
Either midi CCs implemented for the mixer on the Performance page;
Or on the mixer page of the Performance section, allow the lower row of encoders to control the first row of Performance Macros.
In my current project I find myself frequently wanting to bring in a voice in the mixer while also turning one of the macros.

- a midi track machine instead analog track
- arpeggiator midi out
Multumap mode allow to use a4 as a central brain of arrange setup

Very unlikely imho because
a4 doesn’t use machines.
midi arp being asked for so much and recently only implemented on tonverk which is probably the most powerful of the modern elektrons vs. a4 which has probably little/zero room for additions. Also, it’d be weird to add midi capabilities to what is otherwise the most limited (midi-wise) elektron.
yes, infact i take tonwerk only for arp midi out. But i’m surprised that midi clock is yet instable in the firmware 1.1.

I think so. I had the Digitone Keys and that was such an obvious candidate for getting MIDI Arp out but it never arrived.

noise as a modulation source
on a4 the modulation is digital and I doubt they can change it without modifying the hardware. same goes for the SRR: the signal coming out of the A4 outputs has gone through a purely analog signal path, I doubt there is a possibility to throw in a chain ADC → SRR effect → DAC into it without modifying the hardware
euclidean seq and arp p-locks are good ideas and seem realistic (ie require only limited changes to firmware)
it’s a pity they have chorus/delay/reverb parameters assigned to MIDI NRPNs, since many controllers do not support NRPNs, but I guess once the machine is out, it would be really difficult to do a different mapping maintaining backward compatibility

I have a problem with mod destination choose screen and maybe you as well.
When you pick a mod dest fort either env or lfo, you get about 5 seconds to audition and commit. This is way too little and very annoying.
In my opinion the menu should stay until you press either yes or no. Or at least should stay for a longer period of time.
I already submitted a request to Elektron and now posting this with hope that the issue will get some traction.
