A resurrection of em411’s mixit / a musical exercise thru samples

hey y’all / some of you might remember mixit from the old em411 days. i’ve rebuilt it from scratch as quixit (named after the short ones we’d do via irc).

the idea is simple:

  • upload samples (we’re in this phase now — ends march 28)

  • everyone downloads the sample pack and makes a song from it (march 28 - april 11)

  • songs get archived for streaming/download forever

  • no rules on genre or style. just make something from each other’s sounds.

    • where: https://quixit.us
    • when: sample submissions open now through march 28
    • who: anyone / signup is quick (internal auth provider)

would love to see some elektronauts in the mix. cycles repeat automatically so there’s always a next round. happy quixitting <3.

last day to get your songs in / i bumped it from 8:07pm pst to 12am pst tonight.

maybe its just me but im not getting a verification email when i try to make an account, checked all possible folders. and the resend verification button seems to activate the “verify” button instead

oops, i rotated secrets last night / try again, should work now.

yup, unfortunately i accidentally did google’s “use strong password” feature when creating the first account and then when trying to sign in it didnt recognize that i needed that strong password filled in for me lol, just made another one. gonna aim to get a track in before the deadline!

btw, lemme know if you run into bugs/issues.

i’m trying to hold off on new feats until we’ve had a couple of rounds, but keep those in mind too as i’d like to keep iterating on this and make it a consistent thing.

i’m gonna push sample submission thru the wknd to give folks a chance to upload. i’m also going to post this via modwiggler to get some more participation…not sure of other forums tho as this + elektronauts are my gotos. if anyone has suggestions, lemme know.
