Think I may have waited close to 2 years, asked for an update every six months or so.
Whilst being mega dear, it’s also a mega quality build. Cirk timing seems tighter than a nun in a cathouse which by comparison makes midi running from a daw and even within a daw sound anemic. Much easier menu nav than octa but still learning curve for deeper functionality. Lots of Cv outs are great. Hoping for v2 improvements like an external display out (not at all likely) for detailed Cirklon patterns (p3s work fine), or perhaps a decent offline editor.
finally had a reason to force myself to learn how to trigger Elektron program changes when changing scenes. HOLY EFFING HELL that’s glorious. previously, I was just working with the OT and CK and a ton of machines the CK was sequencing. so I could handle changing the active pattern/scene on two machines at once. then I added the M:S and finally started incorporating the DT into my music. BOOM changing four things at once is just too much. figuring out how to make the CK handle it all is just bliss. press a scene button and everybody changes. it’s beautiful.
Yer killin me…
if it makes you feel any better, the thing I was working on that I needed pattern changing for ended up sounding like garbage when transitioning to/from the rest of the track. so it has to be scrapped. hours of precious music time wasted.
BUT at least I learned how to set up the Cirklon to interface with the Elektron machines correctly.
I can do it with MPC. But I KNOW the CK does it better. I had to make a werk around way of doing it. (Perhaps the firm update will help).
But I know that stuff is one of the CKs primary functions. IIIIEEEEEeeeee. Only 17 months and 20 days…ish…maybe
not sure if it’s better but maybe easier
I don’t know the MPC at all. but in CK you just add a track value for program changes; which takes about three button presses and then saves with the instrument definition forever. then just set it to the program value you want (Pattern A01 = 1, A02 = 2, etc…) and save it with the scene. go to the next scene and set/save the associated program value, etc… you can add a track value for bank change too, but I don’t need that currently. only other gotcha is you need to enable sending of early program change messages; but that’s just a toggle, and it’s saved with the instrument definition so it’s set and forget.
it’s pretty simple. again, the CK is designed to be the centerpiece of a midi/cv controlled studio, wrangling control of many instruments at once. so it really shines in its flexibility/simplicity there.
weird Cirklon: https://reverb.com/item/33736789-sequentix-cirklon-base-model
doesn’t have any ports in the rear of the unit. was there a version that was rack mount only with the ports underneath…?
not a bad price otherwise.
edit: answered my own question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJSQLWva2JY
I had NO idea you could do that!
Yes it does, see last picture.
Could it be that you took the down side for the rear side?
Oh wait : it would seem the user switched the read for the down side for some reason…
it was updated since my post. I actually messaged him inquiring and he said he forgot the port pic.
My mistake, I have missd this last part of your message, sorry ^^
Pipping up again…
It only been 6 months…I have approx 12 more to go. But I read that it seems like they might be producing a little quicker than before.
On others past experience, would it be annoying for me to check in on how prod is going…or would it be better to just bite my tongue and wait
I believe they’re currently fulfilling requests to purchase from about May 2017.
