Here is what I have been trying to achieve for some time, without success.
I wish to use the 8 pads of my MIDI controller to simultaneously enter trigs to the Digitakt’s 8 MIDI tracks in LIVE RECORDING mode. The 8 MIDI tracks are set to send notes to 8 instruments of the TR-8 (35 38 43 39 37 42 46 51).
Easily done for the DT’s 8 audio tracks by setting the controller pads to send notes C0 to G0. Would love to do the same thing for the DT’s 8 MIDI tracks. Do you think it is possible to set this up without a DAW? If yes, how?
Thanks,
Christian
Technical details:
MPK Mini mkII to MacBook Pro via USB. Options available in MPK Mini mkII Editor app. Can assign a MIDI channel to the 8 pads, but not to an individual pad. Can assign a specific note to a pad.
MacBook Pro to Digitakt via USB. Options available in MIDI Patchbay app.
you need smth to remap the notes to different channels, there are many ways to do this, from diy solutions like the raspberry pi as a midi processor or commercial products like the blokas midi thing for example (forgot the name)
I thought you could only record in to the sequencer on the Autochannel?
Does this mean I can play six different drum samples on the Digitakt using my Nord Drum 3P?
My MIDI controller’s pads send on channel 10. The patch I’ve created for the MidiHub catches the the 8 notes and dispatches them to MIDI channels 2 to 9. On the Digitakt, the MIDI tracks A to H are assigned to the MIDI channels 2 to 9, AUTOCHANNEL is set to OFF.
I’m pretty sure a few devices can do this. I’m certain the older M-Audio Axioms could do this as you could assign the pads to even the fancy midi nprnn or whatever or CC’s. Also, fairly sure the more expensive Korg midi controllers could do this. Maybe try the Korg PadKontrol? The manual will tell you.
