Re,

With a original CF Card
“Kingston Elite pro 4Gb 133X” CF/4GB S2, it s works NICE.

But when i sync my card and eject.
When i put a new CF card it s freezing directly with a Green LED.

Same problem with 3 Sandisk cards?
Really surprising…

I format using FAT32 with MBR on mac and on windows

Elektron find a card for me 48h after it s hard to find and a memory is poor 16Go and i don t know a speed and exact specification for this product. But after a lot of research,
its more better with 133X (20mb/s) SANDISK ULTRA perhaps
SANDISK extreme 800x not works and extreme pro 1067X not works too it s too rapidly for a new vintage machine.

I really wonder why multiple SANDISK EXTREME cards (UDMA7) are not working for you. These are one of the most reliable cards I’ve ever used in multiple different devices (synths, digicams, various linux systems).

Have you tried a low level format and not just the quick format?

Low level yes and diskpart on windows yes
I m working on computer all day not just for Excel and Word
I m use a lot of langage … O and 1

I m buying a CF card with ELEKTRON
I m buying a CF SANDISK ULTRA 16 Go 50mb/s i m waiting

3.4.1 COMPACT FLASH CARD SPECIFICATIONS:
Cards supporting UDMA and at least 133x (~20MB/s) for both reads and writes are compatible with the Octatrack. Cards must be FAT16 or FAT32 formatted, preferably FAT32. Up to 64 GB Compact Flash cards are supported.

OK BUT on Octatrack what’s THE MAX number?
What’s then maximum of mb /s supported ? ex : 20mb/s <- minimum
What’s the maximum numberX supported ? ex : 133x <- minimum

@carniraz did you run test mode check what it says about your cards?

Hold Function while powering up.
Press Trig 1 for Test mode.

Card OK message?

There are no real upper bounds specific to the OT, because the faster cards can also be used at slower speeds.

A card like the SANDISK EXTREME can support up to 800x (120MB/s), but the OT probably doesn’t use it at that speed. The only situation where you may experience the additional speed is during file transfers in an external reader.

I know that it won’t help you in your situation, but just for clarifications: the SANDISK EXTREME models (up to 64GB) gets used by a lot of OT users including myself since years without any troubles. There is just a single report of one not working here, but with no followup what was wrong.

Maybe you got some fake/counterfeit SANDISK EXTREME cards? Since your computer recognizes them I would at least try to fill them with data and try to read the data back (just to make sure).

Any technical reason to take a 32GB rather than à 64GB? I’m about to buy one.

Nope.

Just the price difference, AND - in your case - how much data you may loose without backups …

Thanks for you r response
I understand the new card in our OT is not Working with a max speed of card 32Gb or 64Gb 800x
it s probably works with a speed of the chip who as a gestion of negotiation rate ? perhaps my machine have a first batch and chip it s not the same on ALL OT ???
That s the good question ? perhaps ?
And with firmware 1.31 after MKII support it s probably not the same chip who have a CF gestion ?
It s a black box, but i can open for see ALL.
REPAIR OCTATRACK

i m holding function button while power up
i m entering in TEST MODE
and after i push TRIG 1
